Taxobot children[edit]

There are a very large number of subpages under "User:Taxobot/children"; see here. None of these are needed any more. The general issue has been discussed in several places before, but the final actions have never been taken. One (related) discussion is at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2015 November 1#Template:Child_taxa. Briefly, these pages were generated by User:Taxobot, which is no longer running (and shouldn't run). Since the bot hasn't run since at least 2013, the information is out of date in many cases, as well as unused.

All the subpages should be deleted, as seems to have been agreed in several talk page discussions, but no-one has picked this up. I can explain more if required. Peter coxhead (talk) 09:06, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

• These pages were created years ago but a bot controlled by User:Smith609, who is active. I don't see his input at the TfD. I don't see any good reason to either delete or keep these pages, but User:Smith609 should be asked. "talk page" was meant generally; the discussions were over all the stuff related to User:Taxobot, if I remember correctly – I've linked to one such discussion above. There's another at Template_talk:Automatic_taxobox/Archive_13#Removal_of_links_to_tool_and_bot_no_longer_running. It would certainly be good to have Smith609's input. Personally I don't care one way or the other – these pages aren't used and aren't of any use in my view, even if the bot ran and updated them, but other than occupying disk space they don't do any harm.
