The result of the discussion was: Delete. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 03:36, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Delete. Only contains the article Caleb Johnson (singer) and Category:Images of Caleb Johnson (singer). I can't find any other articles to include. The subject's debut album was only just released this month, so there's not going to be tons of stuff that needs categorization at this stage. Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:55, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. There is an album and a song by the artist with articles but those should categorized in appropriate schemes for albums by artist and songs by artist categories. Even with those, this eponymous category is not needed. --StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 04:43, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Grand Tour stage winners by nationality[edit]

The result of the discussion was: Keep. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 03:43, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Propose upmerging:
Tour de France (31 categories)
Giro d'Italia (17 categories)
Vuelta a España (14 categories)
Nominator's rationale: The three Grand Tours are contested by multinational trade teams, not national teams, and so the above categories are based on a trivial intersection of characteristics. Although being a Grand Tour stage winner and being a Fooian male cyclist are individually defining, the intersection of the two characteristics is not. Upmerging would result in the 'stage winners' category for each Grand Tour being populated with between 300 articles (Giro d'Italia and Vuelta España), which is not too high, and 750 articles (Tour de France), which can be navigated using a TOC template. Due to the presence of articles such as Yellow jersey statistics, Pink jersey statistics, and Vuelta a España records and statistics, no information would be lost as a result of the merge. -- Black Falcon (talk) 23:22, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - I really don't see the benefit of deleting multiple, reasonable size categories in favour of huge, messy categories. In the past we've created subcategory structures to keep category sizes manageable. This proposal aims at doing exactly the opposite. In Category:Tour de France stage winners, for example, 3 of the subcats have over 100 members. One of those has 222. Merging these categories results in a category with 762 members. Sure, we can navigate a category that size, but say we want to isolate the 9 Australians, how do we do that with a TOC? --AussieLegend () 17:03, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Subcategory structures are appropriate for managing the size of large categories, but they should be constructed along lines that are meaningful and significant. For example, we have Category:Olympic cyclists of Australia because that is a meaningful way to divide those individuals: Olympic cyclists compete on national teams and represent their nations. However, there is not a similar relationship between nationality and participation in a Grand Tour. The fact that three categories (Belgian, French, Italian) account for nearly two-thirds of articles in this category tree lends further credence to that point.
...say we want to isolate the 9 Australians, how do we do that with a TOC? We could not, but underlying that is the matter that a category is not the right tool for capturing these types of potentially interesting but ultimately trivial intersections. Instead, we could find it in a list-type article such as Yellow jersey statistics, or through a category intersection tool. -- Black Falcon (talk) 05:03, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Rename to Category:Volcanoes of Bougainville Island. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 03:47, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The current title is ambiguous, since "Bougainville" could refer either to Bougainville Island or the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, which are not coterminous since the Autonomous Region also includes Buka Island and the Carteret Islands. The choice of new title depends on whether we choose to categorize by geographic or political boundaries. The result of the discussion was: Rename as nominated; should the main article be renamed, the category can subsequently be moved accordingly. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 03:52, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per the main article: Bedford College (London). The article was moved recently and, therefore, this category is not eligible for speedy renaming. (Category creator notified using Template:Cfd-notify) -- Black Falcon (talk) 21:34, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: Rename to Category:United Hospitals sports clubs. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 03:56, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: To expand the abbreviation "UH", per Category:United Hospitals, and clarify the meaning of "member clubs". I am also wondering whether this actually ought to be split from Category:University and college rugby union clubs in England—are UH rugby union clubs really a distinct, recognized subset of English university rugby union clubs in general? The result of the discussion was: split to Category:Radio stations by format and Category:Radio networks by format. – Fayenatic London 16:27, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Delete. Another User:Stefanomione special. There are two key problems here: one is that categorizing radio stations by "content" isn't meaningfully distinct from categorizing them by "format", thus making this an unhelpful duplication of Category:Radio stations by format; and the other is the conflation of "stations and networks" into a common bucket, even though all other categories in the Category:Radio tree keep stations and networks catted separately from each other. By either token, this category simply isn't needed or warranted in this form. Bearcat (talk) 17:15, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Musical intervals[edit]

The result of the discussion was: Rename to the (music) form. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 04:05, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Rename. These terms for musical intervals are ambiguous: see Second and Second (disambiguation), Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh. I propose adding the adjective "Musical" to each one for clarity. Alternatively, the disambiguator "(music)" could be added to each one. Good Ol’factory (talk) 01:59, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support using the "(music)" distinction per Seventh (music). The proposed format is not common usage[2] so the handle is a better parenthetical solution. SFB 18:20, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename all are highly ambiguous. Use "(music)" -- 65.94.169.222 (talk) 06:18, 20 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support: using the (music) format Aristophanes68 (talk) 21:19, 23 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
