Richard Furch article[edit]

I belatedly noticed your message on my talkpage to clarify an issue with the captioned article that I reviewed and rejected at AfC over six months prior. My major concern with that article is that there is no indication that Furch is notable enough to be included in an encyclopedia. Notability is not inherited. Thus, he cannot claim to be notable because he's worked with major artists. 1). Most of the sources you've inserted next to the artists' names are to credit listings. This is not enough to establish that he is notable. 2). Other than the list of names the article lacks substance. 3). The biographical information about Furch is not sourced.
My main concern is therefore that the subject of the article is not yet notable enough to merit a Wikipedia article, according to Wikipedia's guidelines. EagerToddler39 (talk) 02:36, 26 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

From Jahey88:

Thanks for the response! Not 100% sure how to respond on here. But I guess the confusion on our end is how a number of Richard's peers and colleagues have similar pages on Wikipedia...some with less "notability" than him. He's in the same position in our industry as most of them are, so I guess that's my only concern at this point. Being an industry that is very word-of-mouth, and not big on supplying references and sources, it's hard to find enough to qualify notability, in this case. Any help or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Your boss' peers having Wikipedia articles in no way justifies an article about him. You are not notable by being associated with or in the same profession as / etc. someone else. Notability is determined on an individual basis. Second, on Wikipedia notability is determined, not by how well-known someone is by word-of-mouth, but by how and to what extent they have received attention in reputable media sources. If you wish to clarify the issue of notability further then you may consult Wikipedia:Notability.
Third, Wikipedia discourages editing articles in which you have a Conflict of interest. You've stated explicitly that Furch is your boss. Editing articles in which we have a vested interest in not in the spirit of the encyclopedia and I therefore recommend that you follow the instructions at Requested Articles for requesting another editor create the article. There are no guarantees that the article will be done, at least not in the short term as there are hundreds of articles awaiting creation at that space. Additionally, if the issue of notability still holds then the Wikipedia editor may still not be able to help you. I reiterate that your boss doesn't seem to meet Wikipedia's notability criteria and thus an article for him should not be created at this time. Hello Jahey88. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Richard Furch".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Richard Furch}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 22:01, 6 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
