Your Speedy Delete tag

Did you intend to db tag the User page User:Debstover rather than the prior page which we db-d Deb Stover? --Jersey92 (talk) 03:51, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Yes, I believed that the user page was also too self-promotional and qualified for speedy deletion as G11. --Drm310 (talk) 03:54, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar given to me by Synester.balck (talk) on 05:34, 22 August 2014 (UTC) has been moved to my user page. --Drm310 (talk) 19:08, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks!

I want to thank you for noticing that the username at UAA was an attack account aimed at me. I looked at what they'd posted and it appears that they're upset that I deleted Passion City and Draft:Passion City Church, two exceedingly promotional pages. I've had my userpage vandalized, but it's the first time I've actually had someone threaten physical violence against me. That they did it over a page for a church kind of makes me raise an eyebrow. I'm mildly tempted to e-mail the church and let them know what happened, as this reflects very, very poorly upon their church but then if it's answered by the same person who made the threats then the last thing I'd want to do is actually give them my personal information. Anywho, I'd like to thank you and User:Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi for catching all of this. I guess I've truly made it as an admin when I've had someone make death threats against me, LOL. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 03:31, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

You're welcome! It's inexcusable of anyone to threaten another person like that. Anyway, I hope you weren't too spooked by that unfortunate incident. I'll be vigilant for any more vindictive actions like that. We've got your back! --Drm310 (talk) 05:04, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Jennie Allen page

I see your points and agree. Thank you. I've been making an effort to review pages about women and completely missed the autobiographical aspect.Kmccook (talk) 23:17, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

DeAngelo Tyson Page

I was just notified my addition to the DeAngelo Tyson page was deleted because of copyrighted material?? All I did was put in information about his new foundation, which I am on the board and I also represent him personally. I wrote the content that was added myself as the marketing contact for the foundation and own any rights to what I added. This is a bunch of bull. Georgiagirl502 (talk)Georgiagirl502 — Preceding undated comment added 16:49, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

You cannot copy and paste material word-for-word from your website, even if you are the copyright owner. Wikipedia has very strict rules against the use of copyrighted text and images. If you wish to donate the text in its original form, you can do so by following the steps outlined at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Please note that donated text may be extensively edited at any point by other Wikipedia editors.
Since you have close personal involvement with the subject of the article, it is considered a conflict of interest for you to be writing about him. Please consult Wikipedia's plain and simple conflict of interest guide for a further explanation on why this type of editing is inadvisable.
Lastly, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when. --Drm310 (talk) 16:59, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for clearing that up! I will just modify my wording so it's not verbatim. I'm finding some people on here aren't as nice. One actually deleted my flagged user page while I was in the middle of correcting it. --Georgiagirl502 (talk) 17:58, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Georgiagirl502
You're welcome. I'm aware that we aren't so good at explaining what type of editing is allowed until there's a problem. Looks like you've cleared up the user page problem nicely, though. Sorry you had a rough start but hopefully your experience will improve over time. Good luck. --Drm310 (talk) 20:00, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

hi!!

Can you add a picture on Natalia Damini's wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Natalianorris (talk • contribs) 03:07, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi - I'm not exactly certain what you're asking. But, if you're asking if it's possible to put an image in the Natalia Damini article, the answer is yes.
First, you need to have an account on Wikimedia Commons. Once you're logged in, you go here. That page will tell you what kinds of pictures are accepted and how to upload them.
Once your picture has been uploaded, you can add the picture to the article. Wikipedia's picture tutorial has detailed instructions on how to add the image. However if you want to add it within the Infobox of the article, you have to add a line like this:
|image = MyImage.jpg
Hopefully this explains how. Any more questions, just ask.

Mark Pigott and COI declarations of Paccar staff

Hi Drm310, would you please review my proposed revision to Talk:Mark_Pigott in my sandbox User:RichBryan/sandbox. — Preceding undated comment added 04:19, 1 October 2014 (UTC) Forgot signature, sorry. RichBryan (talk) 04:41, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

I like it, Thanks! RichBryan (talk) 03:55, 8 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi Drm310, please help.

You placed a speedy deletion tag on my article. I respect it and know the cause of this. I am not in any way angry but I am excited. Now my question is that can I do the same with other illegal aritcles? If yes, then how? Thanks.

Snehanshu Phukon Assam (talk) 11:18, 20 October 2014 (UTC)

Since you are a new Wikipedia user, you likely do not have a thorough understanding of Wikipedia's policies on what makes articles acceptable or unacceptable. I would discourage you from trying to get articles deleted until you become familiar with Wikipedia's core content policies. I think your efforts would be better spent by going to the Teahouse, which can help you with answering questions, get you accustomed to Wikipedia's culture, and help you develop relationships within the community. --Drm310 (talk) 15:27, 20 October 2014 (UTC)

Response to your message on my page

Hi Drm310.

I am new on Wikipedia, so accept my apologies if I did anything wrong. I created this new user:Clocktower NYC page in order to be able to respond to people who blocked me and deleted my article about Clocktower Productions (I didn't know that I would still be able to respond, even if I was blocked). I didn't aim to violate Wikipedia's policy.

Thank you for understanding, Best. Clocktower NYC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Clocktower NYC (talk • contribs) 17:45, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

ReWriting existing document

Hello, my all experienced wikipedians...even for my special friend "gene93k" hardly requested you that i want to publish or rewrite my article named chak 29dwd and also want to add all information about village with original photos. So please suggest me should i do so?

Anyone other than the creator can remove a speedy tag. You might want to try AFD for this one, not sure about notability. Certainly having written lots of books is not an assertion of importance, so I'd agree the A7 criteria was applicable, the G11 not so much. §FreeRangeFrogcroak 18:04, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the clarification... I'll try the AfD route. --Drm310 (talk) 18:21, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Canadian Natural Resources

Thank you for your edit of Canadian Natural Resources in 2012. Since then much of the content in the article was copied and pasted directly from the CNRL official website by 208.98.234.16 (talk with no editing in August 2014. The reference url was included and it may not be intentional plagirism. I have added the quotation marks on some paragraphs but there are still lots to do. So far rather than removing the material I have used the phrase, "According to their own website,..." but this is awkward.Oceanflynn (talk) 18:25, 29 November 2014 (UTC)

Rositsa Stefanova

I didn't specifically turn it down but I thought it merited further investigation and work. Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish my investigation before I got called away from my PC. Will look at it again later (unless someone else gets there first). Deb (talk) 16:19, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Thanks so much Drm310!

Hello! Drm310. Thanks so much for your help, we are new in wikipedia, so we are really sorry, we thought that was for company page, but, after we found out how to make company page, then we still figure it out how to delete our user page. We would love if you can teach us how to contribute and how to use/how it works in here. Thanks so much.

I have unreviewed a page you curated

Hi, I'm Orduin. I wanted to let you know that I saw the page you reviewed, NSS College Rajakumari, and have un-reviewed it again. If you have any questions, please ask them on my talk page. Thank you. -- Orduin T 15:52, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

The page creator wrongfully removed the speedy deletion tags I placed on the page. It is currently a copyright violation and is unacceptable in its current form. I will be restoring those speedy tags momentarily. --Drm310 (talk) 15:56, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Well, I'm disappointed

could you please undo all of my edits because it is not vandalism. Have you researched about it? I bet, No! You are violating my rights to edit.

Editor PhOfficial (talk) 00:05, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Your right to edit, such as it is, is confined by the requirement that all information you add is verifiable by a reliable source. If what you added was true, then prove it by adding citations. The burden of evidence lies with you, the contributor. --Drm310 (talk) 03:08, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

BRITISH FILM STUDIOS

Thank you for your concerned correspondence.

I have added the name of my company, Centrestage Studios, which is a film studio in London, which is a city in Britain, to the Wikipedia 'List of British Film Studios', because my company is a British Film Studio and has been since 1997. This being the case, it does seem appropriate that it should be on the list.

I note that you feel that my interest in entering my company's name on to Wikipedia is motivated by a desire for advertisement. I think that we may have better ways of advertising our services.

It appears that my British film studio has been removed from the Wikipedia 'List of British Film Studios'. Perhaps by you? If so, perhaps you could justify your entitlement to arbitrate?

Saul Barrington

CENTRESTAGESTUDIOS (talk) 10:10, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

My "entitlement", as you call it, comes from the fact that I am a longtime volunteer Wikipedia editor, in good standing with the community, and with a good understanding of relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines. This includes the following that you have contravened:
  1. In general, a person or organization added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Companies and organizations have specific criteria to be considered worthy of inclusion - existence does not equal notability.
  2. As you have already discovered, companies/organizations can never be used as account names, per Wikipedia's username policy. Such accounts are blocked outright unless you request a change of username to another name that conforms to this policy.
  3. Writing about yourself or your organization is a conflict of interest and is highly discouraged, for reasons explained in Wikipedia's plain and simple conflict of interest guide.
I encourage you to follow these links and read through the relevant policies, so that you become familiar with what is considered acceptable additions and practices on Wikipedia. Thank you. --Drm310 (talk) 15:41, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

BRITISH FILM STUDIOS

Hello - I am Saul from Centrestage Studios.

I do appreciate your need to scrutinise what is going on as Wikipedia is a beautiful thing which no doubt attracts abuse like nobody's business.

I am wondering how my peers at Mount Pleasant Studios and Waterloo Studios managed to achieve notability etc?

SaulSaul Barrington (talk) 17:40, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

Actually, they have not achieved the notability that is required. It appears that two unregistered users added those entries, and they should not have. Regrettably, improper edits will tend to slip in from time to time and remain unnoticed, especially on articles that aren't watched closely. Thanks for pointing them out - I have removed them.
Sorry you've had a rough start. If you're still interested in contributing, I would begin with reviewing Wikipedia:Your first article and/or trying out the Wikipedia:Article wizard. I also left a welcome message on your talk page that contains a number of other useful links. Those should get you started off on the right foot. Cheers. --Drm310 (talk) 19:42, 9 January 2015 (UTC)

Nxtty dominate for delete

please help me my page was nominated for you guys, i amnot angry but i need help please,I am new here, which are exactly the points for consider my page in the list of delete page, what can i do for no delete my page? thank you.

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Reneu76 (talk • contribs) 18:45, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Since you are new here, you must understand a few things. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and is therefore selective about what topics it includes. Topics must be notable to be considered worthy of inclusion, and there are specific guidelines for computer software.
To be proven notable, you must cite reliable sources that are not affiliated with the article's subject. The sources you cite must verify that the article text is in fact true. In the Nxtty article, there are no sources at all. Therefore it is impossible to prove that the subject of the article is notable enough to be included.
There's also a concern that the creator of the article - which may have been you under a previous username - is using Wikipedia to promote this product. Please note that Wikipedia is not meant for advertising or publicity of any sort. If you work for or represent the company that makes this product, then you have a conflict of interest and you are obligated to disclose your connection. Editors are discouraged from writing about subjects with which they have a close connection, for reasons explained in Wikipedia's plain and simple conflict of interest guide.
I hope you use the links I placed in this reply to become more familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you believe that the Nxtty article should not be deleted, then leave comments on the page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nxtty. Any further discussion on my talk page will not change the outcome of the debate or the actions that result from it.
Thanks and good luck. --Drm310 (talk) 00:41, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

icflix page

Hi Drm310,

Thanks for your feedback. Yes I work for icflix and I noticed that it used to have a wikipedia page but it was deleted. So I started a new one hoping that this time it will not be deleted.

Please help evaluating the page. I don't have the right yet to move the page to draft mode. But i did send it to review before publishing it : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Hicham.icflix/sandbox

Hicham.icflix (talk) 16:32, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi Hicham, and thank you for disclosing your employment with the company. Being open about your connection helps demonstrate that you're editing in good faith.
You've got a good start. My advice is to propose any additions or changes to the article on the talk page, Talk:Icflix. That will give other editors to review and discuss your changes, and then post them on your behalf. Just remember to cite reliable, independent sources and use neutral wording.
I would also read Wikipedia's plain and simple conflict of interest guide. That will give you some best practices for someone in your position.
Best of luck to you. --Drm310 (talk) 18:32, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
