Crime Aid is the fifth episode of the fifth season of the television series The Office and the show's seventy-seventh overall. This episode aired in the United States on October 23, 2008, on NBC.
Synopsis[edit]
At the Scranton office, Michael and Holly discuss their upcoming third date, and whether or not they will have sex for the first time that night. They wait in the office until their reservation, and after the other employees leave for the night, they have sex in a supply closet. When they finally leave, they forget to lock the office doors.
The Scranton branch employees come in the next day to find that the office was robbed and their personal items stolen. Feeling guilty about leaving the doors unlocked, Michael decides to organize an auction to raise money and recoup losses. He introduces this idea by promising Bruce Springsteen tickets.
When the auction starts, Darryl quickly realizes that the tickets don't exist, and auctions off "go out for a beer right now". Jim takes the offer, and he leaves with the warehouse workers.
Earlier in the episode, Pam had gone out drinking with her friends in New York and left Jim a butt-dialed voicemail. When Jim and Darryl get to the bar, Roy is there. Jim and Roy have a conversation and Jim updates Roy about the status of his and Pam's engagement. Roy expresses some skepticism about what Pam is doing with her art school friends. This convinces Jim to drive to New York out of jealousy and anxiety, but he ends up thinking straight and turning around.
Meanwhile, Dwight confides in Phyllis about his issues with Angela. Phyllis is the only person aware that Dwight and Angela are sleeping together after seeing them in Goodbye Toby. Angela and Andy are still proceeding with their engagement, but lack physical intimacy. Phyllis auctions off a hug, and it becomes a bidding war between Andy, Dwight, and Bob Vance. This ends up becoming the highest grossing auction.
At the end of the episode, Michael admits that he never had the Springsteen tickets. David Wallace sees Michael and Holly kiss and says that he didn't know they were dating.
