2025: Battle for Fatherland (Russian: 2025: Битва за Родину) is a third-person shooter game set in year 2025. Originally announced in 2007 as 2025: Battle for Motherland.[1]

Gameplay[edit]

Events in the game will unfold in the near future in the Caucasus. In 2025, the United States attacks the unrecognized republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, which in turn leads to the collapse of the economies of these countries and the inability to resist the aggressor. In addition, the United States is losing the support and trust of its NATO allies and other countries, and is finally losing its leadership. At this time, to help organize the resistance, GRU Colonel Igor Sautin arrives from Russia to the scene of events, and together with him joins in the work.[2]

Over the course of 23 missions, you will have to perform a variety of tasks related to both guerrilla activities and carry out full-scale offensive operations. To do this, you will have various equipment at your disposal, including huge walking robots, as well as a rich arsenal of all kinds of weapons.[2]

The game plot takes us to a very near future – 2025 – that will embrace countries with fire, explosions, deaths and threatening enemies. Nations face hazard of terrorism that rules the world! You can just watch your nation getting suppressed and crushed or… you can fight, fight as fiercely as your muscles endure.[3]

Rejoice, friends, world governments, together with military operations, misinformation and provocations, have come up with a detector better than a litmus test. If you see the words “Caucasus” or “Ossetia” in the annotation on the package with the disc, then you can spit in the face with the seller, who says that the game is good. In the case of “2025:Battle for Fatherland”, I would like to do something else - to recall a red-hot poker, for example, but somehow it doesn’t work out. The homeland is, you see, not ours at all. Do not pay attention that on the cover, leaning against the foot of a Russian walking tank, is a busty blonde girl. We will fight in the mountains of friendly republics.

The main character is a brave soldier of Peacemaking Forces who can’t stand this passive non-involvement any longer.[4]
