Hailey Davidson (born November 10, 2000)[1] is an American professional soccer player from Prosper, Texas, who currently plays as a defender for the Dallas Trinity FC in the USL Super League.

Early life

Davidson spent several years playing for the FC Dallas youth academy. She participated in Nationals in 2015, 2016, and 2017. She was also a two-time Market Training Invitee and played twice against the U.S. Soccer U15 Girls National team.[2] She also played for Prosper High School, leading her team to 26 wins in just her junior year as well as a 5A regional finals appearance.[3]

College career

Oklahoma Sooners, 2018–2019

In 2018, Davidson began her college soccer career at the University of Oklahoma. As a freshman, she started 13 games for the Sooners. In her sophomore year, Davidson made 20 appearances, further establishing herself as a key player for the team.[4]

Pittsburgh Panthers, 2020–2022

In 2020, Davidson transferred to the University of Pittsburgh and instantly became a regular starter in the Panthers' backfield. In her final season with the Panthers in 2022, Davidson played a crucial role in leading the Panthers to their most successful season in program history, achieving 14 wins and making their first ACC tournament appearance and the program's their first ever NCAA tournament appearance. At the NCAA tournament, the Panthers defeated Buffalo in the first round and Georgetown in the second but would loss to Florida State in the round of 16.[5]

Club career

Mallbackens IF

Davidson went undrafted in the 2023 NWSL Draft. She joined the Houston Dash for pre-season camp but she did not make the final roster. Afterwards, Davidson joined Mallbacken of the Swedish Elitettan in March 2023.[6]

Wellington Phoenix FC

Davidson eventually signed with the Wellington Phoenix FC in New Zealand in August 2023 for the 2023–24 season on a one-year contract becoming the second ever American signee after Hope Breslin.[1] She made an instant impact, helping the Phoenix win 4 out of their first 6 matches, surpassing last year's win tally. The Phoenix achieved an eighth-place finish, the best in club history.[7]

Dallas Trinity FC

On June 3, 2024, Davidson agreed to join with the newly formed Dallas Trinity FC becoming the club's second signing after Amber Brooks in preparation for the inaugural USL Super League season.[8]

Pitt Assistant Head Coach Ben Waldrum is quoted as saying: “Hailey is the definition of a competitor. She has a passion for the game and puts the extra time into making her game better."[9]
