The Foundation for a Smoke-Free World is an organization funded by Phillip Morris International, a tobacco company, to give out research grants. Its claims to independence have been challenged.[1][2][3][4] It has been criticised by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, Action on Smoking and Health (ASH), and Corporate Accountability International.[2]

It also promotes Phillip Morris's IQOS products, which Phillip Morris has (since 2016) marketed as "smoke-free". The emissions of these products are considered to be smoke by independent researchers, and were called smoke by Phillip Morris researchers until 2016. [5]
