On January 2, 2022, [[Everglow]] held a fan signing event in South Korea. To greet her fans, Yiren made a gesture with her hands, common and respectful in Chinese culture, in contrast to the deep bows of the other five members of the group. A video of the event was spread in the media, triggering criticism from Korean netizens, who demanded that Yiren "return to her native country". Following this, [[Yuehua Entertainment]] announced a temporary suspension of Yiren's activities with the group.<ref>{{Cite web |last=Lee |first=Sun-myung |date=2022-11-17 |title='중국런'한 왕이런, 개인활동 마치고 한국 복귀 가시화 |trans-title=Chinese Wang Yiren is expected to return to Korea after finishing his personal activities. |url=https://sports.khan.co.kr/entertainment/sk_index.html?art_id=202211171014013&sec_id=540101 |access-date=2024-03-28 |website=Sports Kyunghyang |language=ko |archive-date=2024-03-24 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20240324232523/https://sports.khan.co.kr/entertainment/sk_index.html?art_id=202211171014013&sec_id=540101 |url-status=live }}</ref> |

Controversies
Chinese greeting in South Korea
On January 2, 2022, Everglow held a fan signing event in South Korea. To greet her fans, Yiren made a gesture with her hands, common and respectful in Chinese culture, in contrast to the deep bows of the other five members of the group. A video of the event was spread in the media, triggering criticism from Korean netizens, who demanded that Yiren "return to her native country". Following this, Yuehua Entertainment announced a temporary suspension of Yiren's activities with the group.[17]
