Battle of Mangal deletion review[edit]

Hi Doczilla, you closed the Battle of Mangal nomination, and I was hoping to discuss it here with you. You were primarily concerned about my edit here where I removed a large amount of content, and stated that it may have unduly altered voters' evaluation of the article; I understand that I shouldn't have significantly removed content/sources while an AFD was under progress (I wasn't aware at that time), but to be fair, my revision of the page only stood for a little more than one day, and no votes had transpired during that time, so for 20 out of 21 days of the AFD, the article was in its pre nomination version.

Since AFDs are based on merit and not enumerating votes, I believe the "Delete" votes make a stronger argument than the "Keep" ones, both of which concede that there is only one "reliable source" (iirc articles are supposed to have at the very least two RS with significant coverage); the source in question, Autar Singh Sandhu's General Hari Singh Nalwa, however is undoubtedly not reliable, it was deprecated by an admin in the RSN, was published in 1935 (we are told to generally avoid sources written before 1947-[1]), and there is zero information available about the author such as his educational background and his bibliography, there are zero scholarly reviews of his work, and that book appears to be the only one that can be traced to him. It seems abundantly clear to me that deletion was warranted if that was the strongest source in the article.

Apologies if this isn't the correct way to do this, I'm not familiar with Deletion review at all, and I saw that the Wiki page asks a potential filer to discuss any reservations with the closer first. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 09:56, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The inappropriate content edits only figure into the part about it closing with prejudice against immediate renomination. They did not figure into the actual outcome of the close itself. There was no consensus. Doczilla Ohhhhhh, no! 22:44, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Zero-install[edit]

Hi, you deleted Zero-install. I think there was a source "Eicher 2011" in it, which is now called by text copied from the article into Installation (computer programs). As the source was not copied over the latter article now has harv/sfn no-target errors. If you could rescue the source from the deleted article it would be appreciated. DuncanHill (talk) 00:07, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, in typing that it struck me that because teext was copied over then attribution has been lost by the deletion. You need to restore the history. DuncanHill (talk) 00:08, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Eicher source is already listed in the Installation (computer programs) article.
Restore the history where? The article is gone. Someone has created a redirect, but redirect was not the outcome of that AfD. Doczilla Ohhhhhh, no! 06:14, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Eicher source is a different date. 2006 is not 2011. DuncanHill (talk) 08:46, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The first page of the linked pdf says 2011. I just looked up the original Zero-install article. It says exactly the same thing. Copied directly from the deleted article, just as user Викидим originally added it:
Eicher, Bastian (2006). Desktop Integration Management for Portable, Zero-Install and Virtualized Applications (PDF). Department of Computer Science (BS thesis). Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Comparison of photo stitching software[edit]

I lost the AfD -- woe! In all seriousness, I think that this should have been a "no consensus", at least based on the merits. I am probably wrong, but what do you think? jp×g🗯️ 06:29, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You did not lose an AfD. It's not about you. It is not about winning or losing. Doczilla Ohhhhhh, no! 20:53, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hilco (musician)[edit]

Hi @Doczilla,

You closed Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Hilco_(musician) as Keep when there is no consensus yet. The one keep was the author trying to defend the article, and isn't bad for AFD. Please reconsider and relist the discussion for more opinions. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 20:00, 27 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There were two keeps, not one, with no deletes. There are other comments, yes, but the article had been improved. It would not have been a no consensus close at that point anyway. It would have been relist. I'll relist, but considering how swamped AfD has been lately with low participation, I do not feel that is the best use of people's time and effort. Doczilla Ohhhhhh, no! 00:16, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the understanding. Yes I see the low participation these days. Please relist. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 00:18, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I'm having trouble with relist. I've undone the close, though, so someone can relist it while I try to figure out what's wrong with my tools. Doczilla Ohhhhhh, no! 00:19, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
