Moon Music (full title Music of the Spheres Vol. II: Moon Music)[1] is the upcoming tenth studio album by British rock band Coldplay. It is set for release on 4 October 2024 by Parlophone in the United Kingdom and Atlantic Records in the United States, being the second part of their Music of the Spheres project, after From Earth with Love (2021). Both albums are concurrently being supported through the Music of the Spheres World Tour.[1]
Background
[edit]On 17 June 2024, Coldplay announced through their social media profiles that the album would be released on 4 October.[2] On 16 August 2024, Coldplay reveals the album's track listing.
Artwork and package
[edit]The album cover features a moonbow shot, taken by Argentine photographer Matías Alonso Revelli in 2020.[3] Coldplay contacted him directly to use the picture, and while he offered numerous other versions, the band ultimately maintained their initial choice.[3] The rest of the package was created by long-time collaborator Pilar Zeta.[3] CD editions of Moon Music will be the first to be released on EcoCD, created from 90% recycled polycarbonate and sourced from post-consumer waste streams.[2]

[edit]According to court files made public prior to Moon Music's release, Parlophone negotiated a budget advance of £35 million with Coldplay, making it the highest of all time for an album.[4] Expenses included clearing samples, arranging recording sessions, recruiting producers and promotional campaigns.[4]
Singles
[edit]The video for the lead single "Feels Like I'm Falling in Love" was shot at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens, Greece.[5] Reports from local media suggested that it had a budget of €3 million, consequently ranking among the most expensive music videos of all time.[6][7][8] The second single, "We Pray", was announced on 6 August, with Little Simz, Burna Boy, Elyanna and Tini. It is scheduled to be released on 23 August.

- Apple Music's edition of the album additionally includes a video titled A Film for the Future.
- With exception of "Feels Like I'm Falling in Love" and "Alien Hits / Alien Radio", all tracks are stylised in upper-case, though the letter "i" remains in lower-case.
