DescriptionBasford- site of the former Basford Vernon railway station (geograph 1855226).jpg
English: Basford: site of the former Basford Vernon railway station It is interesting to compare this shot, taken from the new footbridge which crosses the Nottingham-Mansfield-Worksop railway (immediately below) and the tramway, with Ben Brooksbank's 1963 picture, taken from the old railway footbridge Link. Vernon Road still runs off to the left, but the trolleybuses are long gone, as are the railway platforms and brick goods shed, the signal box and everything but the gasholders at what used to be Basford Gas Works, straight ahead, beyond Church Street and Western Boulevard bridges. The modern bridge is a touch further north than the Midland Railway one, and higher, to clear the tramway's overhead wires, so I couldn't copy Ben Brooksbank's viewpoint exactly.
