Here on Wikipedia it doesn't really matter if it was your own work, it was published and can be considered a reliable source. If it's your own work and you're using it to POV-push then it's an issue, but it looks okay!

Just saw the message you left on out talk page. It's a shared IP address by thousands of university students. Are you able to put an appropriate template at the top of the talk page informing other users? I also recommend a temporary block in June and July when we host teen summer camps. Read the text that accompanied the edit... just because something has citations, it doesn't mean that what it says makes sense. The previous text was confabulating two separate things (optimizing the reconstruction error in the sense of the KL-divergence... these are two terms in the same equation that are jointly optimized. There is no "in the sense of the KL-divergnce", there is figure the damn expectation values and why the reparameterization trick has a reason to exist) and instead of citing the original work by Kingma & Welling it was citing two derivative works and a subsequent "tutorial" paper. The entire section was bullshit, from start to finish.

Of course, variational autoencoders are far from trivial, and you can be forgiven for not understanding. But that's also why you should be more careful with removing things.
