I'd also add that reading through the other admin responses, I think the call for "indefinite" has less to do with them thinking that you have committed capital wiki-sins and more that they do not believe in timed bans for BATTLEGROUND behavior (I don't know that I fully agree, but I see where they're coming from based on a strict reading that bans must be preventative, not punitive; timed battleground blocks have a more punitive bent). signed, [[User:Rosguill|'''''Rosguill''''']] [[User talk:Rosguill|''talk'']] 19:09, 12 December 2021 (UTC)

Help

Hi. You declined my request. Where is the problem? And When I should make another request? I want to be a new page reviewer. I've changed my username. You can see that I've nominated AfD and CSD some pages. I was blocked. Is this the problem? How many days after I should make another request? Isn't my account 90 days old or I haven't made 500 undeleted edits to articles or any other thing. Hope you reply. Thanks.  ||  Orbit Wharf  💬 06:15, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Orbit Wharf New page patrol and AfC are not permissions that we hand out to every editor meeting the minimum requirements; those requirements are the minimum necessary for consideration for the permission. As you have recently been blocked due to problems with your editing, you are going to need to spend a significant amount of time demonstrating that you have learned from your past mistakes, months if not years of work. You need to understand that many of Wikipedia's decision-making processes work slowly; it is simply not possible to acquire the relevant skills in a few days or weeks, even if you make lots of edits, because the processes themselves often take longer than this. Quite frankly, your decision to change your user name suggests to me that you're trying to evade scrutiny of your past edits, which makes me further disinclined to confer advanced permissions to you. I also have some concerns about your English reading comprehension and writing skills, which need to be near-flawless for new page curation related permissions. There is no shortage of work that you can do on Wikipedia without advanced permissions, go focus on that. signed, Rosguill talk 19:01, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Please believe me! I didn't changed my username for trying to evade scrutiny of my past edits! Yeah. I was blocked for copyrighting. But 1 or 2 weeks I was unblocked because I didn't do any copyright violation in the time. The block would expire on 22 March 2022. I'm Bangladeshi. I'm not very expert at English. But I'm trying to be expert at English.  ||  Orbit Wharf  💬 06:14, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rosguill. Hope you're fine. Can I request for rollback?  from, Orbit Wharf  💬  •  📝 17:38, 23 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Because according to EnterpriseyBot, I moderate to high level of vandalism. You can see the Stuff section of my userpage. And also I nominate some pages for CSD criteria no. G3.  from, Orbit Wharf  💬  •  📝 17:44, 23 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Orbit Wharf, please stop requesting advanced permissions. You are a beginner editor and need to learn how to edit and communicate better before you have any business requesting permissions. At this point, your repeated eagerness to request permissions has become a drain on other editors' time, and evidence in itself that you don't fully understand what you're doing. This is my last time telling you nicely. signed, Rosguill talk 05:04, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Now I will never request again :) I think I will always be a beginner all the time on Wikipedia. Thanks you so much.  from, Orbit Wharf  💬  •  📝 05:17, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rosguill. I have joined wikipedia last November and found it of great interest. I have edited many existing articles and also drafted articles from my side. I thought it would be helpful for me to ask for adoption to be guided in Wikipedia path to make valuable contribution in future with authors with great experience. Hounding concerns

Hi Rosguill. I'm concerned with two editors in particular who are targeting me which may be contrary to our policies. There is one editor who didn't like an edit I made on an article they've edited, and they are now going to other articles I've edited to reverse longstanding edits I've made, and post on other talk pages criticism of me. They're also requesting other editors who I've had content disagreements with to join them in discussions. Another editor whose only interactions with me have been negative has joined a discussion that they otherwise wouldn't have been involved in, to level criticism at me. These things feel like they shouldn't be allowed, can you offer any advice? I'm very willing to have constructive discussions about article splitting and edits I've made, but this is feeling very personal and intimidating. Thanks. Onetwothreeip (talk) 21:35, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Onetwothreeip, unfortunately the only real course of action beyond asking them to stop is to take it up at ANI. In principle I could try to investigate and intervene prior to that, but I really don't have the bandwidth to take that on in any timeframe that would be helpful. signed, Rosguill talk 21:41, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your responses. I'm wondering if what I have described would constitute conduct that is not allowed. Onetwothreeip (talk) 02:29, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Onetwothreeip, The way you've described it here, it sounds like hounding. signed, Rosguill talk 02:35, 18 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A problem regarding user:GermanKity

I had written an article on Wikipedia and the newly blocked user GermanKity; who you've indefinitely blocked, moved my article to a draft page and asked for improvements. I have made significant improvements on the page and wanted to contact GermanKity so I could get further help on making the article move closer to the main space. But since they don't exist, can you help me with the matter? or can you suggest other help I could be getting? Thanks a million. Rooz1370 — Preceding undated comment added 08:23, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Rooz1370, are you talking about Draft:Nima Bank? Looking at its history, while it was originally moved to draft by GermanKitty, it has since then been reviewed by two separate AfC reviewers who saw fit to first decline and then reject the submission, so GermanKitty being blocked is irrelevant at this point. I would reach out to the AfC reviewers that reviewed the page since then. signed, Rosguill talk 14:52, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Orbit Wharf, my honest suggestion is to take a break and go do something you enjoy that isn't Wikipedia. In the future when you come back, go slow: focus on simple tasks that don't use automated tools. The best cure for wikistress is time away from Wikipedia. I know you want to help, but right now your attempts to help are just creating more work for other editors, which is worse than not helping at all. signed, Rosguill talk 17:52, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Blablubbs, sure made me laugh as well, especially the part where Rosguill implies having an account with Administrator privileges is a good idea, a beautiful humorous essay that is. On a serious note, of recent, cheats are no longer working anymore for editors engaging in less than ethical practices, thanks to individuals like yourself, Rosguill, DGG, MER-C, and so many other anti spam editors. My favorite quote, which i coined is ”The beauty of UPE is that UPE never fails to be UPE” that is; no matter how cleverly written or how well worded, neutral & WP:Balalanced the perpetrator feels the UPE article is, the ADMASQ always pops up. Asher Rosenberg, I see the email, but the sources you've provided appear to be screenshots of posts on a social media site, which are not considered a reliable source on Wikipedia. Please review our reliable sourcing guidelines, particularly the section on user-generated content and our guideline on due weight within articles. The TL;DR is that we need professional publications with reputations for reliability to report on this before we can include it in the article. For a Modern Orthodox high school, if such coverage exists it would probably look like articles in JTA or The Forward, or local news media. It is not enough to establish that something happened (and a social media doesn't even really do that), we need to establish that this incident is considered important by reliable sources and thus worthy of inclusion. signed, Rosguill talk 16:49, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

They are screenshots of the emails mentioned. A. Rosenberg (talk) 16:52, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Fre/Eng Article Translation

Hi! I'm translating an article from French to English and was wondering if you could maybe provide a bit of advice? The draft is on Axel Auriant (French Actor). How close is this article, in your view, to being ready for review? It needs a few more citations, and I was thinking would it be appropriate enough to check the sources on the French original article, and if they suit, just paste them into the draft? If there is anything obvious that should be changed before it would reasonably be published, please do say. Sorry if this is the wrong platform to ask - I saw you are a French speaker, and involved in the review process, so thought you might be quite well equipped so speak on this issue. Many thanks and sorry for the bother, --EcheveriaJ (talk) 22:22, 14 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

EcheveriaJ At a glance, it looks like it meets WP:GNG and should be ready for mainspace (although I'm not familiar with some of the sources, so that's just a guess); you may want to find inline citations for the last few claims on the page before doing so though. signed, Rosguill talk 18:05, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Mentorship

Dear Rosguill, I was wondering if you would be willing to take me on as a mentee. I have been editing for a little while now, yet I have struggled to find a consistent space to work in (or really what I would consider solid editing). While I have helped out where I can, and I know that even the smallest contributions add up, I was wondering if could help you out (or with whatever is needed) and expand my skills as an editor along the way.

I will be honest, this does come while I am a little lost.

While I thought I was in line, an Admin reached out to me yesterday and informed me that I was not in line with some of my edits because of Redlink (reverted some of my edits). Being still relatively new, this of course stung - though luckily I reflected on their feedback rather than totally freaking out. In this cycle, I found myself reflecting on Wikipedia in general, and I started browsing through random forum/policy discussions. As you may have guessed, this became progressively more confusing and disillusioning as I went. So that is why I am here. I don't want to be disillusioned! I love the time I have spent so far at Wikipedia and I want to do more. So when I reflected on all this, I wanted to find somebody who could not only serve as a guide through the chaos but also serve as a check so that I don’t mess something up again. Thank you for your consideration, and I appreciate your time.
