Adelaide leak
Finished this for the moment, so stuck it in mainspace. If you get a chance to take a look, I'd appreciate it as I feel like there's stuff missing I can't put my finger on. Feel free to add anything you think needs to go it or to chop it about generally! I'm hoping to add to the 3rd Test article, but may take a while... --Sarastro1 (talk) 20:15, 19 September 2010 (UTC)
:Maybe my brain is shot to pieces after too much short pitched bowling but er... which book more about the Fingo and Braddles hate-fest? There are quite a few! Not sure if you mean Growden or Fingo himself. I got in the stuff about the Don's charming character assassination after Fingo's death from Frith and a quite a bit about their mutual admiration for each other. Anything specific? Wasn't sure about the rest from Growden as it struck me as pushing POV to have so much against Bradman from people close to Fingo. For example, putting in Tiger's view may be pushing it if there is no other stuff supporting Bradman. And there is no real evidence either way (although I think we all know who really did it! :) ) --Sarastro1 (talk) 20:32, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
::Yeah but Bradman refused to talk to people except a few who turned super-hagiographer. The serious guys like Frith and Haigh severely criticise clowns like Perry, who is basically Bradman's agent. Perry even said that the 1935-39 Aust team were one of the weakest Aus attacks of all time adn the 3-2 adn 1-1 result was due to the genius of Bradman's captaincy; nonsense; Australia had two all time great bowlers and Bradman purged one of them when he was still strong <font color="GoldenRod">YellowMonkey</font> (<font color="#FA8605">new photo poll</font>) 02:29, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
:::Thanks for the Fingo stuff. Should prove very useful. I'll have a browse through and stick any useful stuff in. Rather than cramming it into the Leak article, what about a Fingo loves Braddles article? However, my stuff on Bradman is non-existent except for people claiming he wasn't as good as Hobbs/Hutton/Hammond/Sutcliffe/Headley/take your pick cos he couldn't play on stickies! Anyway, I'll probably see about GA for the leak fairly soon as I think the bulk of the main stuff is in there, and maybe add some more bits as I go and if it ever goes to FAC. Re Perry's ... interesting claims, O'Reilly was probably the difference in the 30s as England had a line-up as good as Aus except Bradman. And they had a habit of stuffing up under pressure (so, things haven't changed), picking crap teams (1936-37, Oval 30, Oval 34) or not turning up if Hammond failed. Not super captaincy. Just my two cents! --Sarastro1 (talk) 20:10, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
::::I was going to write up a Bradman v the Irish Catholics but never got round to it. Did you know about the 1936-37 incident where the board hauled all teh Catholics (except Fingo) to a meeting about undermining Bradman. Feel free to pilfer the all the existing articles for snippets of course. Well Perry is useful for Bradman POV but I used his books before I read widely and discovered that he was a copycat. All his books on the Invincibles stuff are lifted straight off "brightly fades" except that he copied wrong. More ironic he is always saying Fingo is a pathological liar on Braddles' behalf and then plunders Fingo relentlessly. He even cuts and pastes the really distinctive stuff eg HAssett being caught by the Yorks keeper like a fishing net, and the joke about the sawdust sausages in 1948 <font color="GoldenRod">YellowMonkey</font> (<font color="#FA8605">new photo poll</font>) 07:42, 22 September 2010 (UTC)

Why did I start this one? :) I'm up to the end of the first day and can't face the second day tonight! Too much to go in! Don't know if the stuff from the Hele book is from you. It was unreferenced, but it looked interesting, so I'll put back any bits I took out if you've got a ref. Jardine goes into excruciating detail in his book and Frith has lots, but that's all I've got on the match detail. Have you got anything else? I'll probably get to Barnes at the weekend. Kilner finally passed, so I might put up Macca next. --Sarastro1 (talk) 21:08, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

indent It might be worth trying to have a push on improving articles in Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket/Key biographies or something next year: not necessarily to GA/FA, but a lot of them could do with a lot of work, and it would be a more global task. Problem with the Invincibles and the Aus captains, is that as an Englishman, I'm not all that bothered about them to be completely honest! I write about Somerset for obvious reasons, but I'd be happy to improve articles on other topics (a lot on women's cricket, particularly South Africa, for no good reason). So a project push on the key bios might attract attention. Of course, there's not many people really about in the project, so it may well fall completely flat, I don't know. I am the editor whom you blocked for 2 weeks. I had appealed to you to reconsider your action, which I had considered unwarranted. You did not do so, nor did you justify your action, except with a cryptic "block for POV and troll".

It is my opinion that you misused your administrative privileges in blocking me. I have seeked help with the help me tag on how I could proceed with your blocking me. However before that I assume that you acted in accordance with Wikipedia conventions and rules in handing the block and so I request you to kindly explain and justify your actions. Nothing personal here all this is for the betterment of Wikipedia. (I hope that your reply is in detail, quoting the exact statements that you consider justify your action, with necessary comments for explanation. I wish you go through the very short list of articles which I have started and contributed in a major way, which will give an idea of the type of my contribution to wikipedia.)Yogesh Khandke (talk) 09:15, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Blocked editor humbly requests explanations
#The two emails landed in this editor's spam folder. You could simply have written a message on this editor's talk page. Now that has complicated the issue a little. Thankfully they were not deleted automatically as is done with messages in the spam folder and so were found by this editor. Both are dated 2010-10-02 around 3.00 pm and were retrieved only a while ago, after about 3 weeks.
##First message sent by you - Why are you fighting in such an inflammatory way? you have to stop
##Second message sent by you - If you want an unblock. No taunting, etc.
#Administrator you have rushed to block an editor for in your opinion pov and troll.
##When the editor requested you to reconsider the block, you have responded with emails to which you did not receive a response.
##You did not bother to use other means of communications such as writing a message on the blocked editor’s talk page or place a talkback tag, after a lack of response from the blocked editor.
##Surely you are aware that a blocked editor has as many options open for communication as a gagged cat.
##On the editor's part he waited for a response from you, and also let time pass so that his reactions would grow out of the natural impulsive nature it would have, as a result of the block. On receiving no communication from you the blocked editor decided to sit out the block, and look at the matter after his editing privileges were restored.
#The aggrieved editor would like to bring to your attention what Jimbo Wales wrote "Remember what we are doing here. We are building a free encyclopedia for every single person on the planet. We are trying to do it in an atmosphere of fun, love, and respect for others. We try to be kind to others, thoughtful in our actions, and professional in our approach to our responsibilities."
##Could you administrator kindly explain how your actions build an atmosphere of fun, love and respect for others
##Could you administrator kindly explain how your actions are thoughtful
##Could you administrator kindly explain how your actions demonstrate that you are professional in your approach to your responsibilities.
#This editor wishes to bring to your attention the following recommendations about accountability for administrators "Administrators are accountable for their actions involving administrator tools, and unexplained administrator actions can demoralize other editors who lack such tools. Subject only to the bounds of civility, avoiding personal attacks, and reasonable good faith, editors are free to question or to criticize administrator actions. Administrators are expected to respond promptly and civilly to queries about their Wikipedia-related conduct and administrator actions and to justify them when needed.
##Thus administrator the editor's request to you to justify your action was a very natural response to the action you had taken.
#Please take notice of the following recommendations regarding blocking "Blocking is a serious matter. Administrators should be exceedingly careful when blocking. Blocks should be made only if other means are not likely to be effective; prior discussion or warnings should generally precede all blocks. Blocks should be used only to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, and if there could be any reasonable doubt about whether a block is appropriate, other administrators and/or the community should be consulted. Following a block, the blocked editor should be notified of the block on their talk page, and additional notification on site may be appropriate to seek community input."
##What other means administrator did you consider before implementing the block?
##What made you administrator decide that these means would not likely to be effective?
##Did you administrator discuss before blocking?
##Did you administrator issue warnings?
##Did you administrator demonstrate that the editor's actions were disruptive and damaging to Wikipedia?
##Did you administrator consult other administrators before enforcing the block?
##What actions have you administrator taken when an editor taunted another editor following your block with the words "Thank god for that (add his talk page to your watch list and you'll see it). Hopefully his 2 week block will give our newer friend User:Zuggernaut some food for thought too on what happens when you behave like this."? Especially since you administrator consider taunting a serious offence deserving a block.
#Kindly administrator explain your actions in detail please point by point.

Hi YellowMonkey. I met Yogesh at Talk:Nazi Germany recently and saw the block in his history. I am under the impression that there was no warning (at least on-wiki, I see you sent him an email) and that the block length was excessive. I think I have never seen two weeks for a number of borderline disruptive talk page comments before. Maybe I have seen a 1-day block for that, after a stern on-wiki warning. (On-wiki is important because some users use a separate email account for Wikipedia and don't read that regularly.) Now Yogesh has an entry in his block log, and one that looks a lot worse than it was. Or did I miss something?

I told Yogesh to notify me if the block comes up later, and he has just left a message on my talk page. I did not advise him to write so much text. :) Hans Adler 19:56, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

W.R.T. The wiki article on John Paul II - The quotation in the evolution section attributed to JPII and starting with the phrase "If taken literally..." is false. Check the citation link and try finding that quote there. The quote was actually from a Chicago Tribune reporter's article here: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1996-10-25/news/9610250130_1_humani-generis-evolution-theory and was in no way the words of JPII. 75.23.71.42 (talk) 05:03, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

 • Is it possible to get permission to do some work on Terrorism_in_australia which is semi-protected? The article needs a lot of work to cover australias history of Neo-Nazi terrorism (The ANM/NA bombings) and incidents like the recent Combat-18 mosque attacks? Thankyou in advance Duck Monster (talk) 13:50, 1 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

 • Monkey - re. the wording of your sig. These are sportswomen, not "supermodels" - so promoting this as some sort of beauty contest is not appropriate. Please consider changing it. Ta. Plutonium27 (talk) 16:23, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thich Quang Duc's statue

Hi YellowMonkey, FYI, the statue of Thich Quang Duc is completed and it has just been opened for public (the official only removed all barrier last month). You may go to Vietnamese Wikipedia to request some pictures. This statue is on my way to school but I have no camera to take photo :P. I think these picture might be a good addition to the article Thich Quang Duc.--AM (talk) 01:55, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Right, have to track this down! YellowMonkey (new photo poll) 06:48, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have listed To Autumn for FAR, but even I have some issues that a couple of users may be trying to add in OR, removing cited material, and replacing scholarly academic sources with sources of much lower quality (e.g. Sparksnotes). If all that needs to be reverted, there would be a fight over it; in either case, the article is looking at a delisting from FA as a result, because if it stays as it is right now, it would fail 1(c) as is.
