PSA: I tend to use public (institutional) wifi a fair bit. Unless otherwise specified please assume that I am in full control of my accounts.
Hi, guys! I'm Sohom. I originally hail from Calcutta a pretty cool city situated on the banks of the river Ganges. I am avidly interested in a wide variety of topics related to India. However, from time to time one may find me geeking over programming and computer science-related articles which is where my non-Wikipedia-related interests lie.
Also, just for the sake of transparency, I have a non-financial conflict of interest[1] with the following organizations. While I do not believe that my involvement in any of these organizations rises to the level of it being a traditional conflict of interest editing scenario, I will still try to defer to other editors when editing content related to the organizations if concerns are brought up about my non-neutrality.
As of 2023, I have created over 31 articles (and edited many many more articles) relating to two major overarching categories, the Indian subcontinent and Computer Security. Out of these articles, I'm proud of my contributions to a specific few of them:
On the more technical side of things, I mainly work on maintaining the ProofreadPage and PageTriage extensions (I have +2 on ProofreadPage, the Wikisource extension, the PageTriage extension and VideoCutTool). I also work on other tasks/bugs depending on what scratches my itch at that time. :)
If you need to contact me regarding something I did on-wiki, I'm Soda on Phabricator and Sohom Datta on Wikimedia Gerrit.
In additon to this, I also develop small userscripts that allow for certain quality of life improvements to workflows that I or some other editors use onwiki. I am happy to write new scripts and feel free to contact me regarding the same. A few of the script I have created as of 2023 are listed below:
Note: I am in control of the SodiumDogFood account which I have previously used to debug issues in VideoCutTool and ProofreadPage extension. All edits made using SodiumDogFood account (on any wiki) should be attributed to this account and should be considered tests. Feel free to delete/revert any edits made by SodiumDogFood (A complete list of all accounts that I declare to be affiliated to me is availiable here)
I have previously recieved grants from Wikimedia Italia and Google (via Google Summer of Code) to work on certain features in ProofreadPage. During these period, I have edited mutliple metawiki and mediawiki.org pages and have also actively contributed to Wikipedia outside of my development obligations. My work during Google Summer of Code is documented here and my work during the Wikimedia Italia grant is documented here.
^I am not being paid to edit Wikipedia for these organizations, however, I have been affiliated with them in one way or another for a extended period of time.
Well, that’s interesting to know that Psilotum nudum are known as whisk ferns. Psilotum nudum is the commoner species of the two. While the P. flaccidum is a rare species and is found in the tropical islands. Both the species are usually epiphytic in habit and grow upon tree ferns. These species may also be terrestrial and grow in humus or in the crevices of the rocks.
