Tufahije (singular: tufahija) is a dessert made of walnut-stuffed apples poached in sugar water. It is very popular in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Croatia.

The Bulgarian pechani yabalki are also stuffed with walnuts, but are usually baked, not poached.[1]

Serving[edit]

Tufahije is served in large glasses with their own glazed syrup and whipped cream on top.[2] It's usually accompanied by coffee.[3]

  1. Well, that’s interesting to know that Psilotum nudum are known as whisk ferns. Psilotum nudum is the commoner species of the two. While the P. flaccidum is a rare species and is found in the tropical islands. Both the species are usually epiphytic in habit and grow upon tree ferns. These species may also be terrestrial and grow in humus or in the crevices of the rocks.
