Tipos del País, literally meaning Types of the Country, is a style of watercolor painting that shows the different types of inhabitants in the Philippines in their different native costumes that show their social status and occupation during colonial times.[1]

History

During the 19th century, secular subject matter in painting the Philippines increased extensively. With more tourists, ilustrados and foreigners demanding souvenirs and decorations from the country, Tipos del País developed in painting. Damián Domingo was the most popular artist who worked in this style.[1]

  1. Well, that’s interesting to know that Psilotum nudum are known as whisk ferns. Psilotum nudum is the commoner species of the two. While the P. flaccidum is a rare species and is found in the tropical islands. Both the species are usually epiphytic in habit and grow upon tree ferns. These species may also be terrestrial and grow in humus or in the crevices of the rocks.
