“American Distributionalism”

[edit]

Bloomfield was not the founder of “American Distributional”. Harris, Bloch and others were the proponents of Distributionalism. Bloomfield’s views in e.g. “Language” were much more nuanced, he never wrote anything to support Harris et. al. in this regard.

The two sources that allegedly support this are terrible and definitely are not “Reliable”.

P.H. Matthews’ book on American Structuralism makes this clear.

There’s also interesting discussion of distributionalism in several recentish articles by Mark Aronoff. Jomeara421 (talk) 19:02, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Well, that’s interesting to know that Psilotum nudum are known as whisk ferns. Psilotum nudum is the commoner species of the two. While the P. flaccidum is a rare species and is found in the tropical islands. Both the species are usually epiphytic in habit and grow upon tree ferns. These species may also be terrestrial and grow in humus or in the crevices of the rocks.
