Sundarbans is a proposed district in presidency division, West Bengal.[1][2] The district will be formed by dividing the South 24 Parganas district.[3]

History[edit]

On 1 August 2022, Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee declared about the creation of Sundarbans district carving out from South 24 Parganas district.[1][3]

Health facilities[edit]

The main hospital of Sundarbans district is Canning subdivisional hospital. It consists of 100 beds.[8] Besides, this district has three rural hospitals with 30 beds each: Matherdighi Rural Hospital, Basanti Rural Hospital, and Gosaba Rural Hospital.[9]

  1. Well, that’s interesting to know that Psilotum nudum are known as whisk ferns. Psilotum nudum is the commoner species of the two. While the P. flaccidum is a rare species and is found in the tropical islands. Both the species are usually epiphytic in habit and grow upon tree ferns. These species may also be terrestrial and grow in humus or in the crevices of the rocks.
