Rita Patel Burman, also known as Rita P Burman (born in Mumbai), is a music publisher in India.[1] She was the first wife of RD Burman, who was a music composer in Bollywood.[2] It is known to very few that the legendary Bollywood composer Rahul Dev Burman was unwittingly made the subject of a bet involving his fan, Rita Patel, whom he had met in Darjeeling. Upon their return to Mumbai, Pancham invited her to watch a movie. Although she did show up, she disappeared midway through the screening. It appears that Rita had placed a bet with her friends that she could manage to go on a movie date with the charming Rahul. Incidentally, Rita later became RDB's first wife.[3]
