Dato' Ramanan Ramakrishnan is a Malaysian politician who has served as Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives in the Unity Government administration under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Minister Ewon Benedick since December 2023,[1] and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sungai Buloh since November 2022.[2] He served as the Chairman of the Special Committee of the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA) from April 2023[3] to February 2024.[4] He is a member and Deputy Information Chief of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the PH coalition and was a member of the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC), a component party of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He was also the eldest grandson of the late Devaki Krishnan, the first woman elected to public office in the Malaysian history.[5][6]
Under Ramanan's leadership, MITRA disbursed over RM62 million to the Malaysian Indian community.[7] MITRA received a rating of "low risk" by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.[8]
