Melanie Ward is a British Labour Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament for Cowdenbeath and Kirkcaldy since 2024. Having previously contested the seat of Glenrothes in 2015. She gained the seat from Neale Hanvey, who was elected for the Scottish National Party but defected to the Alba Party.[1]
Ward has served as President of the National Union of Students Scotland.[2]
Formerly CEO of Medical Aid for Palestinians, she was chosen for Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in health in 2024.[3][4][5][6] Ward stepped down following her election.[7][8]
