KXAC (100.5 FM, "Minnesota 100") is a radio station in Mankato, Minnesota serving south central Minnesota with a Country music format. The station is licensed to St. James and serves the Mankato area and the Minnesota River Valley. The station is owned by Linder Radio Group.

History

[edit]

The station went on the air in 1991, playing soft adult contemporary music and later switching to an oldies format in April 2001.

KXAC eventually shifted to classic hits as "Classic Hits 100.5 KXAC", dropping the former "Oldies 100.5" brand.

On November 21, 2018, at 10 a.m., KXAC dropped its classic hits format and began stunting with Christmas music as "100.5 The Christmas Igloo", with a new format to launch after the holidays.[2] On December 26, KXAC relaunched its classic hits format, rebranding as "Magic 100.5".[3]

On September 2, 2022, KXAC dropped its classic hits format and adopted sister station KATO-FM’s country format as Minnesota 100; KATO would flip to a classic hits format skewed towards the 1980s and ’90s.[4]

In July 2023 Minnesota 100 started transmitting on 102.7 K274AL (Mankato) for a clearer signal in the city of Mankato. 102.7 K274AL use to transmit KTOE, can be heard on AM 1420 and 98.7 FM.

  1. Well, that’s interesting to know that Psilotum nudum are known as whisk ferns. Psilotum nudum is the commoner species of the two. While the P. flaccidum is a rare species and is found in the tropical islands. Both the species are usually epiphytic in habit and grow upon tree ferns. These species may also be terrestrial and grow in humus or in the crevices of the rocks.
