Le plus probable est que ces armes soient une brisure des armes de Richard Coeur de Lion (décrite par Simon de Joinville : https://web.archive.org/web/20050519085519/http://perso.modulonet.fr/~earlyblazo/specialarms/richard.htm), qui fit la conquête de Chypre avant de vendre l'île aux Lusignan. La couronne aurait été ajouté lorsque Chypre est devenu un royaume.
Ces armes n'ont jamais été porté en tant que telles par les rois de Chypre, mais ont sevi de base à d'autre armes (rois Lusignan de Chypre, ou elles sont associé au burelé des Lusignan, et aussi écartelés). Telles quelles, et independemment, elles furent portées par :
  • Waléran III de 1214 à 1221, comte de Luxembourg avant d'être comte de Namur,

  1. Well, that’s interesting to know that Psilotum nudum are known as whisk ferns. Psilotum nudum is the commoner species of the two. While the P. flaccidum is a rare species and is found in the tropical islands. Both the species are usually epiphytic in habit and grow upon tree ferns. These species may also be terrestrial and grow in humus or in the crevices of the rocks.
