Ezra Mam (born 31 January 2003) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who plays as a five-eighth for the Brisbane Broncos in the National Rugby League.

Background

Mam was born in Sydney into a family of Aboriginal descent from Far North Queensland (Kuku Yalanji).[2] At a young age he moved to Queensland and grew up in Ipswich playing his junior rugby league for the Goodna Eagles.[3] Mam attended Ambrose Treacy College in Brisbane's western suburbs playing rugby union for their 1st XV team.[4] Mam accepted an offer to take part in Brisbane Broncos' development system at the age of 13.

Early career

Mam won the Rookie of the Year in the 2021 Intrust Super Cup season while playing for Souths Logan Magpies finishing the season with 13 tries, 8 try assists and 7 goals in just 11 games.[5]

2022

Mam made his first grade debut for Brisbane against Newcastle in round 11 of the 2022 NRL season, in a 36–12 win setting up two tries.[6][7] In Round 12, Mam scored his first try NRL try in a 35–24 win over the Gold Coast Titans.[citation needed] Mam played a total of 13 games for Brisbane throughout the year scoring six tries. Brisbane would finish the 2022 season in 9th place.[8]

2023

In round 2, Mam scored two tries in Brisbane's 28–16 win over arch-rivals North Queensland. In round 8, Mam was sent to the sin bin for a hip drop tackle on Parramatta's Matt Doorey during Brisbane's 26–16 victory.[9] In round 22, Mam scored two tries in Brisbane's 32-10 victory over the Sydney Roosters.[10] Mam played 25 games for Brisbane in the 2023 NRL season and scored 18 tries the equal highest amount for a five-eight in a season. Mam played in Brisbane's 26-24 loss against Penrith in the 2023 NRL Grand Final where he scored a second half hat-trick.[11]

2024

In round 5 of the 2024 NRL season, Mam scored two tries for Brisbane in their 34-32 loss against Melbourne.[12]
