Buddha is one of several titles given to Buddhism's founder Siddhartha Gautama, whose other titles include Shakyamuni Buddha, and among Anglophones Buddha is often mistaken for Siddhartha Gautama's name or only title - indeed, among Anglophopnes, Siddhartha Gautama is often merely called Buddha or the Buddha. But Buddha, in Buddhism, is a title for those who have achieved Buddhahood, and is given to the Buddhas preceding, co-existing with, and succeeding Siddhartha Gautama.
