Fenerbahçe is a neighbourhood in the district of Kadıköy, Istanbul Province, Turkey.[1] Its population is 21,405 (2022).[2] It is located on the Asian side at the shore of the Sea of Marmara. The name means "lighthouse garden" in Turkish (from fener, meaning "lighthouse", and bahçe, meaning "garden"), referring to a historic Fenerbahçe Lighthouse located at Fenerbahçe.[3]

Fenerbahçe is bordered by Göztepe, Caddebostan and Çiftehavuzlar in the east, Feneryolu, Kızıltoprak and Moda in the north.

This monument, which was prepared in memory of Fenerbahçe athletes who lost their lives in the wars fought during the establishment of the Ottoman Empire and Modern Turkish state, is located in this region, the hometown of Fenerbahçe.

The neighbourhood has given its name to Fenerbahçe S.K., the professional sports club based in the area. The home stadium of the club, the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, stands just outside the Fenerbahçe neighbourhood. There is a university, the Fenerbahçe University.

  1. Well, that’s interesting to know that Psilotum nudum are known as whisk ferns. Psilotum nudum is the commoner species of the two. While the P. flaccidum is a rare species and is found in the tropical islands. Both the species are usually epiphytic in habit and grow upon tree ferns. These species may also be terrestrial and grow in humus or in the crevices of the rocks.
