Bairabi is a census town in Kolasib district in the state of Mizoram, India.

[needs update] As of the 2011 Census of India,[1] Bairabi had a population of 4,320.

Connectivity

Bairabi is currently the only major railhead of Mizoram, connected with a broad gauge line. Katakhal-Bairabi metre gauge track was converted to broad gauge, having got the status of national project, it was fast tracked and completed on 21 March 2016.[2] Presently, the daily 05567/05568 Passenger Special between Silchar and Bairabi connects the two towns in about 3 hours and 30 minutes.

  5. Bairabi Sairang Railway line from Bairabi to Sairang, a town near Aizawl is also under construction.[7]

  1. Well, that’s interesting to know that Psilotum nudum are known as whisk ferns. Psilotum nudum is the commoner species of the two. While the P. flaccidum is a rare species and is found in the tropical islands. Both the species are usually epiphytic in habit and grow upon tree ferns. These species may also be terrestrial and grow in humus or in the crevices of the rocks.
