Alamdanga (Bengali: আলমডাঙ্গা) is an upazila of Chuadanga District in the Division of Khulna, Bangladesh. It covers an area of 364.66 square kilometres (140.80 sq mi).[1]
Geography
[edit]Alamdanga is located at 23°45′30″N 88°57′00″E / 23.7583°N 88.9500°E. It has 86,299 households and an area 364.66 km2.
Demographics
[edit]As of the 2011 Bangladesh census, Alamdanga upazila had 86,299 households and a population of 345,922. 66,655 (19.27%) of the inhabitants were under 10 years of age. Alamdanga had an average literacy rate of 45.67%, compared to the national average of 51.8%, and a sex ratio of 1000 females per 1000 males. 78,372 (22.66%) of the population lived in urban areas.[2][3]
As of the 2001 Bangladesh census, the population of the upazila was 308,917; males 158,951, females 149,966; Muslims 299,001, Hindus 8,919, Christians 11 and others 109.[4]
As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Alamdanga had a population of 245,524. Males constituted 51.66% of the population, and females 48.34%. This upazila's population of individuals aged 18 and older was 127,055. Alamdanga had an average literacy rate of 23.2% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate.[5]
Arts and culture

Administration
[edit]Alamdanga Thana was turned into an upazila in 1982.
Alamdanga Upazila is divided into Alamdanga Municipality and 15 union parishads: Ailhash, Belgachi, Baradi, Bhangbaria, Chitla, Dauki, Gagni, Hardi, Jamjami, Jehala, Kalidashpur, Khadimpur, Khashkorara, Kumari, and Nagdah. The union parishads are subdivided into 126 mauzas and 211 villages.[2]
Alamdanga Municipality is subdivided into 9 wards and 18 mahallas.[2]

Well, that’s interesting to know that Psilotum nudum are known as whisk ferns. Psilotum nudum is the commoner species of the two. While the P. flaccidum is a rare species and is found in the tropical islands. Both the species are usually epiphytic in habit and grow upon tree ferns. These species may also be terrestrial and grow in humus or in the crevices of the rocks.
