DescriptionKirby Hall, Northamptonshire, UK - English Heritage property (44686327642).jpg
KIrby Hall is a magnificent Elizabethan mansion built in Classical Renaissance style which fell into disrepair and decay during the 18th century. Today it is a quaint mixture of grandiose facades and neatly-restored living quarters with outstanding architectural features such as the oriel windows and integral masonry banister rails. An audio guide is available free from the entrance which gives a fascinating insight into the long and convoluted history of Kirby Hall. Built by a rich courtier in the hope that his Queen, Elizabeth 1 would grace it with a visit; she never came.
