Description
Sixty magazines of 70mm film—with 100 frames per magazine—were exposed as part of the earth observations effort. Cameras used were mainly the Hasselblad 500EL/M, 70-mm format, modified by NASA with DRM (Data Return Module) as a clipon mechanism which inserts the time of exposure on the edge of each frame (see Lulla etal. 1994 for technical descriptions of cameras and film). A few frames of earth-looking views were shot using 35mm cameras. Most of the film carried was color visible film (CVIS). Included in the six thousand frames exposed are seven hundred frames of color infrared film which produced exciting results. The usual 100mm and 250mm lenses were complemented by a wideangle 50 mm lens. The ESC (Electronic Still Camera) was used to good effect also.
