How about Western Family Foods, Inc.? (Hoover's profile) Can it be considered to be based in Oregon when it is owned by other out-of-state companies? Katr67 06:30, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it would be good to have an article on them, much like there is one on PacificCorp, Gerber, Fred Meyer and a few others that are based in Oregon but owned by other out-of-state companies. I'm not sure if it should go onto the template, as again it might make it too broad. I think Intel has a lot of wholly owned subsidiaries in the state (as I think every out-of-state insurance company does for legal reasons) and so do many other companies since it can help with taxes. For instance I would bet Google has a subsidiary for its data center in The Dalles.
On a side note, Hoover's is good for a lot of companies, but it won't have data for all. It will have all public companies and certain private companies. Basically only public and certain private companies are required by the SEC to file financial reports, so Hoover's and the SEC site will have revenue and some other good info for articles on companies. For Hoover's to have other companies comes down to if that company has released data for other reasons, such as trying to get loans or to try and get ranked in industry lists. Most of the larger companies will have data, but smaller firms will not. Aboutmovies 22:28, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Though I was thinking we could also make a nav template for small businesses of Oregon too. Keep it under say $50 mill, otherwise they are not small. If anyone is stuck between then they can either cut sales or increase sales. Aboutmovies 00:34, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Just came across this effort and wanted to mention that a WikiProject for all companies has now been established. I hope we can work together going forward to improve the quality of company articles in Wikipedia. Please check us out and let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Cheers!
