User:Diafygi/Impeach/UserboxVP[edit]

Userbox is political POV pushing, no encyclopedic value. Borderline attack page, only purpose of the box is to ridicule the subject. All those who will likely vote keep, please consider this. If a userbox was created that said "This user thinks Wikipedia Jimmy Wales should be removed from the Wikimedia Foundation board" Would you vote keep or delete. • Delete the whole page The page User:Diafygi and this userbox should probably be deleted under WP:UP#POLEMIC. Diafygi should be given an opportunity to take this material offline in case he has actual intent to use it for article building at some point. BTW- I'd vote keep on your Wales example, since discussion and opinions on the internal workings of wikipedia is one of the proper uses of user pages. Yeah, after thinking about it that probably wasn't the best analogy. --Alpha Quadrant talk 00:05, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Per Gigs. ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 00:32, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep all It's a userbox that certainly does not rise to level of being an "attack" (and not against other editors) or even "inflammatory". Userboxes are the perfect place to state a POV up front rather than hidden edits in articles. I'd also vote keep on the Wales example because discussions in userboxes of opinions - about Cheney or Obama or Wales - is exactly their purpose. • Keep: It's far better that this user declares his viewpoints in his userspace than edits an article like Dick Cheney with an undeclared bias. This userbox isn't even that bad (and believe me, I'd vote to keep much worse ones); it doesn't malign Cheney at all, but only says that the user believes that a couple of resolutions should have gone further in the House than they did. There's no harm in expressing your political beliefs in userspace. And incidentally, I would certainly vote to keep a userbox wanting Mr. Wales off of the Foundation board. I might even put such a userbox on my userpage... Buddy431 (talk) 02:05, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Political userboxes that don't contain any material that would bring the project into disrepute are routinely acceptable. Peter Karlsen (talk) 06:55, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
