Article does not meet WP:GNG or WP:NORG / WP:NSCHOOL. Sources in article and WP:BEFORE are not WP:IS / WP:RS with WP:SIGCOV addressing the subject directly and in depth.   // Timothy :: talk  21:47, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. First, the nominator should stop using the same verbatim boilerplate nomination for every single one of his AfD school nominations with no apparent regard for the actual article content. In this case reference number 1 in the references list at the time of the nomination is an independent reliable source providing detailed specific coverage of the subject, namely the history of the Rehoboth school. Clearly the nominator didn't bother with such niceties as WP:BEFORE here. There are multiple other sources providing specific and detailed coverage. I added several such book sources [1][2] and a 50 Best Christian Schools in America listing (the 7 paragraphs of prose about Rehoboth are for entry number 40; the list is arranged alphabetically). There are others as well, e.g. here [3][4], etc. Overall, certainly satisfies WP:GNG. Nsk92 (talk) 02:10, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reply: The items listed above are not WP:IS WP:RS with WP:SIGCOV addressing the subject directely and indepth.
  • The first source you mention is [5] clearly is not a IS RS. Asserting that it is shows a lack of understanding of what an IS RS is.
  • [6] clearly is not a IS RS and does not have SIGCOV even if it was and IS RS.
  • [7] is a mention and does not address the subject directly and in depth.
  • 50 Best Christian Schools in America listing is obviously promotional.
  • The Cafeteria Lady eats her way across America, the Cafeteria Lady tells a good story, but this does not show notability.
  • [8] Is an article about a fundraising campaign. It does not have SIGCOV and does not show notability. It is a routine, run of the mill story from a community paper.
The rest of the sources in the article are not IS RS with SIGCOV addressing the subject directly and indepth. I'm sure its a great school doing great work, but this is about sources.
Nsk92 You should stop writing aspersions and personal attacks on other editors and spend more time becoming familiar with notability and what an independent reliable source is.   // Timothy :: talk  04:36, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Wow. A pissing match, ok, sure, I'm game. Regarding your last bit of advice, I have been here since 2007 and know something about independent reliable sources and notability. Now, let's take a look at some of your arguments, in order:
  • Ref[9] is an educational item posted at a library webpage of a university; we routinely accept such sources as reliable.
  • [10] appears to be a news item, signed and dated from the webpage of Christian Reformed Church in North America. Again, we routinely accept these kind of sources as RS. The entire news item is specifically about the Rehoboth school, so it does provide, significant coverage of the subject.
  • The book[11] says this about the subject: "A year later, a Rehoboth Mission School opened as a Mission School for Native American Students. The first six students, four boys and two girls, were recruited from Navajo families south of Gallup. As was typical of that boarding school era, the children's Navajo names were discarded and replaced with Anglo names. In this case, the students were renamed after prominent Christian missionaries. Rehoboth went on to establish a day scholl for Anglo and Hispanic students in 1929, a public school for those students in 1938, and high school classes in 1938. In 1973, the mission school became Rehoboth Christian School." This passage addresses the subject durectly, substantively and in detail, and qualifies as WP:SIGCOV.
  • 50 Chistian Schools in America listing. It would be promotional if it were some sort of an advertising site where schools paid to have themselves listed. But TheBestSchools.org has a page explaining the methodology of their ranking and stating explicitly that "Schools cannot buy better rankings at TBS". The site may not be U.S. News & World Report but it is a legit school ranking site.
  • The Cafeteria Lady eats her way across America book. "the Cafeteria Lady tells a good story, but this does not show notability." The book provides significant coverange by an independent RS. The existence of such coverage, from multiple sources, is the very definition of notability, as defined by WP:GNG.
  • [12]. An article about a Friday highschool football game or about highschool graduation ceremony would be routine. There is nothing routine about an article that descibes a multi-year fundraising campaign for renovating a highschool. The coverage is specific and detailed and significant in the sense of WP:SIGCOV. • Reply I'm not here to have a "pissing match" with you. I have no idea why you would press the sources above that are explicitly connected to the school (CRC Press, the Christian Reformed Church, etc), these are clearly not IS RS. Newsletter articles are not IS RS. Normal routine, run of the mill stories such as about fundraisers (all schools have fundraisers) do not show notability. Your other points above fail in the same way to show notability. Others looking at this should examine the sources and how the meet both IS RS and SIGCOV.   // Timothy :: talk  11:16, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • The school has not had any formal connections with the CRC Church since 1973, and has been controled by a local school board since then. Currently the school appears to be run by the board as a Christian non-denominational institution, although CRC still has a significant presence there. But even if we take the CRC sources completely out of the picture, the remaining independent sources do provide sinficant coverage, as defined by WP:GNG. And yes, by all means, let's see what other AfD participants think here. Nsk92 (talk) 12:26, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep The sources in the article aren't great, but if this isn't considered SIGCOV I will eat the shirt I am wearing. Has received other coverage as far away as Albuquerque and Flagstaff. SportingFlyer T·C 22:22, 12 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete The sources are extremely lacking. The only one that might wave in the direction of notability is the one provided by SportingFlyer. That said, it seems to be from a local newspaper, when there should be coverage in regional or national sources, and it takes more then one reliable in-depth source anyway. I'd be fine striking my vote out if multiple in-depth reliable sources that are not local newspapers appear though. --Adamant1 (talk) 08:32, 15 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
