Peer Review[edit]

Hey, it was great working with you yesterday!

First off, I think the article you are working on is appropriate for your PE and it is evident that you are passionate about the experiences of Native Americans with accessing health care. I wasn't aware of these policies so it was nice to learn more about health care services that are lacking in other communities. This topic is extremely important. Some of the comments I had about your edits lied mostly upon the wording of the sections you are contributing to. I found myself struggling with the same thing when I was piecing together my potential contributions. It is hard not to analyze, quote or add in our opinion with this assignment especially with topics we genuinely care about. Something that worked for me was to read the summary out loud and listen to the tone I use when I am reading. Also, you used direct quotations to cite your work for some parts and I believe paraphrasing is preferred by Wikipedia, but I am not 100% sure. It may be helpful to go back to the tutorial on editing. For instance in the section about Historical trauma, the way you formatted it sounds like an opinion. Perhaps researching on how Native American experiences differ from Non-native Americans with services will provide more facts on how those issues are or can be addressed. In terms of the content, it was well-written and followed the common theme of health conditions among Native Americans. This article is complex and has several areas that can be added on to but I would suggest taking a step back to see what topics are most relevant to the specific work you will be doing with your PE. When I began this assignment, searching for articles was difficult but once I found a topic that had an abundant amount of research available, it also allowed me to learn about general topics within my area as well as the specific issue I wanted to focus on. Maybe consider searching for articles per section and see where you find more and where you find less work; it may help with moving forward. It is great to see how engaged you are with all of the sections! Another minor suggestion I had was about using hyperlinks for topics like diabetes, alcoholism and mental health if there are existing Wikipedia articles on those topics. Overall, nice work. These are all sensitive topics and I think you are doing a great job at understanding the different social issues that are present within the Native American community. Hope this helps!124 srgarciaa (talk) 05:35, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
