Help on a translation[edit]

Since you know the IPA how do you spell Runit Island? Nikospatras (talk) 19:07, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

To my current knowledge, /ˈrunɪt lənd/ (this would be redundant though, per the standard that common English words do not need IPA) would be the IPA spelling of Runit Island, given I'm assuming the name pronunciation correctly. Also, good for you finding that page needing IPA. Cheers! dross (c · @) 19:38, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WP:ORE participation status[edit]

Hello Dross,

I am working on updating the WikiProject Oregon contributors' activity status page. Your old username causes an error when my bot attempts to process it because that is what is in Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon/Participants. Do you still consider yourself part of WP:Oregon? —EncMstr (talk) 20:47, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Removing my edits[edit]

Hello!

I understand that there is concern that I removed a section of an article, but it was a verbatim copy-paste from an earlier section of the article, under a new name at the bottom.

Avivaw23 (talk) 20:00, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I do see that now. A lot of red marks looks bad in RC and diff. Thanks for letting me know! dross (c · @) 20:03, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Image without license[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:Rights Party logo.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Rights Party logo.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (Talk • Contribs • Owner) 00:45, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Orphaned non-free image File:Rights Party logo.png[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Rights Party logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 03:44, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dross. Non-free file such as this can only be used in articles per WP:NFCC#9; so, you cannot use it in User:Dross/drafts/The Rights Party. Please don't re-add the file to that page again until after it has been approved as an article. If, by chance, the file is deleted per WP:F5 before that happens, don't panic. Deleted files aren't gone forever, but rather only hidden from public view. You can request that the file be restored via WP:REFUND once you are ready to add it to an article. If you have any questions about this feel free to ask them below or at WP:MCQ. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:43, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I was notified that you have put back the section that I had removed from an article. TO YOUR NOTICE, the film is successfully running in theatres till now and the entire plot has been typed out there. And that is gonna potentially affect the film's welcome. That is why I had removed it. A film which has finished the theatre can surely have the content on the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.99.149.94 (talk) 19:59, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, that is not valid reason to blank the entire plot section of the page. If it were, then all Wikipedia's current movie pages would be missing a plot section, and they wouldn't be very informational. Your response to this raises a couple concerns for me. Have you read WP:REMOVAL? The plot does not fall under any sort of valid content removal. Have you read WP:COI? Your concern with the film's performance in the theater appears to me that you may be associated with the production of the film. dross (c · @) 20:25, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Help with Portland High School Page[edit]

Hi User:Dross: I see you are involved in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Education and a native of the Pac NW. I was wondering if you might have time to help me with some edits on the Catlin Gabel School page? They are requesting some revisions/update, and I'm currently in a COI relationship with them and can not make the edits myself. Might you have the time to review my current requests on that page and help me usher them through, if approved? I'd greatly appreciate it. Best LeepKendall (talk) 18:58, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
