Mathematics and art: the Fraser spiral illusion (made of concentric circles) says something about visual perception, and is a forerunner of Op art.

Physical culture

[edit]

Hi, I know in the past you edited some articles on physical culture, I created many articles myself for famous physical culturists. Recently two new articles have been created Western physical culture and Indian physical culture. The problem is that these articles contain a lot of WP:OR and many of the sources do not specifically mention "physical culture". Although there were some antecedents - physical culture started in the 19th-century. The western physical culture article contains a lot of odd material for example a photograph of Bin Laden and a section on "Muscular religious nationalism" which is not sourced to content on physical culture. I believe that these articles need to be deleted and or merged to physical culture (which needs expanding). Do you have any suggestions about this? As a historian I have done a lot of research into physical culture, I am generally disappointed with these new articles. They contain misleading content. Thanks for asking. My approach to PC was largely limited to its relationship with Yoga as exercise, which it certainly influenced. It sounds as if the Western and Indian articles are more or less worthless, so deletion or merging are appropriate. Yoga as exercise#History sets out and cites the basics of PC's influence in India. The material is not repeated in Postural yoga in India#Indian practices for independence, which could certainly be extended with an account of the historical background including PC in India.
