Beverly Bond is the founder of the Organization called: Black Girls Rock! [1] This organization is based on teaching young women to love themselves and be proud of whom they are. This started out with a T-shirt idea in 2006 she had, which later turned into a whole new idea. Her focus was created on young women and to teach them the media is not a way of life. [2] She teaches young girls through mentor ship programs on how they are beautiful and to feel empowered within themselves.

Beverly Bonds feels like she is obligated to help these young girls and listen to their struggles in life. By making this special organization, she also wants to use her other talents, such as modeling and being a DJ, to promote and teach the next generation of girls. While being interviewed, she said this to the public about black women, "Not only are we on the back burner in the mainstream in our own communities; we don’t even know who we are."[3]

Beverly Bond has also incorporated an Awards Show on BET known by the same name as the organization, "Black Girls Rock!" In 2006, Bond thought of an idea of an Award show that honors certain women of color who do not receive the recognition they deserve. She wanted to acknowledge them and their work and also have them recognized by our young women.[4] Bond wanted to include people who showed hard work in what they did, these women were in different categories that included acting, politics, music, and more. The show also has entertainment throughout the night from some of the most influential musical artists as well. [5]
