Analogue, why are there two references to 2007 Columbus Ohio newspapers about Magurder but no other periodical or news references? No contemporary or historical references to, say, the Washington Post or CNN or the New York Times, about Magurder's role in Watergate? You have a local Ohio axe to grind? This wiki is about global history. This guy is here because of his role in Watergate, and gee, yes, it's important to know that he had a DUI and a car accident as a geriatric, but people dial him up because of the Watergate scandal. With the limited space we have to communicate, do you really think that anyone cares about central Ohio news? This is not the place for personal attacks.

• Analogue, I see you responded on this "IP address" talk page. Seems like someone somewhere does have an axe to grind. Bummer. I'll just note that CNN did not exist at the time of Watergate; that local papers are the correct sources, in general, for local events (like a D.U.I.); and that without a link to the article I can't conveniently assess what he's complaining about anyway. Hi. I saw that you removed my comments about the Beach Rd bridge being the same design as the Lane Rd bridge. Don't know if you've ever seen the Beach Rd bridge, but once you do, you'll see the striking similarity to the Lane Rd bridge. The Franklin County Engineering folks told us that the Beach Rd bridge was the prototype for the Lane Rd bridge. The towers are exactly the same design, as are the cables and their anchors. The primary difference is that the Beach Rd bridge has two tower sets to avoid placing piers in the Big Darby Creek. The primary reason the Lane Rd bridge was constructed so quickly was that they worked out all the bugs on the Beach Rd bridge (which consequently took a couple of years to build).

I've put my changes back substantially the same as they were. Be happy to talk more about this if you wish. If you live in central OH, why not take a drive to the Beach Rd bridge site and see for yourself.Boomer 18:48, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Analogue, thanks for fixing up the OSC article. I flagged their "Blue Collar" project article as template:Advert because I was reluctant to summarily revert the work of a neighbor (I know mathematicians and computer scientists at OSU). When I looked around for an example of an article about a supercomputer center that is not an advertisement (to send to the PR folks at OSC who made these changes) I noticed you had had to fix a similar thing at the OSC main article. copyright?[edit]

The advertising additions to the OSC articles are from OSC (nslookup resolves the IP address to OSC.net, which is not an anonymous email server :-). I'm sure OSC would not complain about publishing their advertising, even if someone else had done it; but it plainly violates NPOV etc. You would be doing them a favor to edit out the subjectivity, otherwise someone will just delete it, right? Good Article nominee[edit]

Hello, I just wanted to let you know that I think that the "B" class rating on the Columbus, Ohio article is incorrect. That "B" class rating was given approximately 1.5 years ago like you said and that was before alot of major improvements got underway. I've been looking over the Columbus article real good and the article to me looks like it is ready for Good Article nominee. The article to me looks very good and extensive with plenty of references. Good day, I just wanted to let you know that I got ahold of User:Alabamaboy, an expert in article nominees. I had noticed that User:Alabamaboy had passed Youngstown, Ohio as a Good Article on February 13, 2007, so I asked him to check out Columbus, Ohio's article since the class "B" grade was incorrect. User:Alabamaboy said that he quickly checked out the article and said it appears to be ready to become a good article. If we want, we can nominate the article on the good article nomination page. Peer Review[edit]

I was also wondering if the article should undergo a Peer Review to see how much farther it has to go to reach Featured Article status. Are goal is to see where we are so that we know what kind of improvements are still needed. Hopefully with some help from Wikipedians in Ohio like me that know the Columbus area real well, Columbus has a real good chance of becomeing a Featured Article in the near future. Hello. Vandalism to this article really doesn't justify semi-protection. Nine vandalism edits in a week is little to worry about. Nine vandalism edits a day would justify semi-protection. Take this article for instance. It was vandalized some twenty times by some ten different accounts in the 24 hours prior to my semi-protection. That was a clear case for protection. Can you please let me know who is responsible for defining what is "neutral"? i mean adding a company history for MT which you re-moved is very strange. Especialy when i look at the german version of Wikipedia where the same information for MT is allowed, e.g. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mettler-Toledo. Thanks for your feedback. I realy want to contribute in a good way. But this seems very strange to me. From my point of view it is a pure description of our history. I cannot see anything which sounds like a advertisment.

About the link, I think this website is OK per WP:EL the link adds some value you wouldn't find in the article, and does not promote anything if I'm correct. I frequently edit airline articles and tend to find the way you have the page cited is too space consuming. The way I do it makes it simple, with the link, the description which is described on the link, the source and the date issued. Hi - This is Dan, a frequent contributor to the Ohio Roads Project, and also the webmaster of Ohio Highway Ends (http://www.state-ends.com/ohio/). I just wanted to give you a heads up that there is a gathering of roads enthusiasts, if you will, taking place in Dayton on Saturday, 5/10 at Logan's Road House, 2819 Centre Dr., Fairborn, OH 45324. The first part is a meet-and-greet over lunch, giving people a chance to shoot the breeze, with some attendees potentially bringing some interesting maps, atlases, pictures and more. There may even be a freebie or two floating out there at the gathering (such as a free map). After lunch, we'll divide up and take a tour of some highlights from Dayton area highways, including the almost-completed I-70/75 interchange (the "Freedom Veterans' Crossroads"), reconstruction of the I-75/OH 4 interchange, the newly-reconstructed US 35 through downtown Dayton, and a side tour to an historic crossroad: Dixie Highway & the National Road. We should be wrapped up with the tour by 4:30-5:00 PM. That's a brief synopsis of what the event will entail; I am sending a special invite to all of the Ohio Roads Project editors. These events are always fun, unique and very informative. If you have the opportunity on that day, I would like to invite you to join us. Issue II - May 2008

From the editor: Here's Issue II of the project newsletter. We're trying to decide if this is sinking or floating. If you would like to contribute to next month's newsletter please jump right in at the News Desk! Have a great May. The Ohio Portal The maintainers of the Ohio Portal are looking to get it to featured status. They would like to ask all project members to help improve it any way they can. What needs to be done most is the supplying of selected articles and images. Selected Article: Indian Head Rock There is a eight ton rock in Ohio that was removed from the Ohio River. This rock is known as the Indian Head Rock Dating back to the early 1800’s, this rock was seen sticking out of the Ohio River and used as a navigational mark for barges along the river. The names of citizens from the town of Portsmouth, Ohio are carved into the rock from the late nineteenth a early twentieth centuries. Some of the names were of well known families from Ohio. They would swim out to the rock, have their picture taken with it or simply carve their names into it. With the advent of the Locks and Dams along the Ohio River, the rock eventually was submerged, but the legend lived on. A gentleman from Ironton, Ohio located the rock after searching a very long time for it, and he and a crew of scuba divers recovered the rock and took it to the shore to be donated to Ohio for historical value. After hearing the news about the rock being removed, Kentucky introduced legislation against the removal of the rock. They also want the diver who found it to be prosecuted for removing the rock. Kentucky owns the greatest part of the land the river runs on. Even the Army Corp. of Engineers got involved as to how to move the rock without damaging it. I own this car (#213/1200) currently. Purchased at Midwestern Auto Group with 217 miles. Someone had removed the Charleston wheels and replaced them with Hufeisen. The car has 15k on her now, an AWE downpipe, and GIAC flash. The car is still in Columbus.

It's neat to see my car used as the example in the article; I had no idea it was at the show.

Hi, yes, blatant copyright violation might be too strong. Nevertheless, it was an, unintentional, copyright violation. You took an image of a Volkswagen sticker, the original copyright of that sticker (including text) belongs to Volkswagen. Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

This "sculpture" quickly decays and doesn't last beyond the time it is exhibited. Thus, it falls under Freedom of Panorama. From description page "Even quickly decaying works can thus be "permanent" and therefore be subject to freedom of panorama. Street paintings, ice, sand, or snow sculptures rarely last more than a few days or weeks. If they're left in public space for their natural lifetime, they are considered "permanent" all the same. Unfortunately there is no freedom of panorama in the US, except for buildings - see Commons:COM:FOP. But I've sent the image to WP:FFD for community discussion. FYI, similar butter sculpture images were deleted from Commons a while back, unless the photos/depicted works were old enough to be in the public domain. There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.
