A little bit of history on the User called Permalearning

Permalearning started editing on Wikipedia in July of 2007. This user was doing some research on a former Oregon politician named Binger Hermann and noticed that his page was lacking a bit of information that this user was aware of. Permalearning then felt prompted to find citation materials and links that could be used to improve upon the page for Binger Hermann. While researching for this project Permalearning found that she enjoyed editing and writing articles a great deal and has since been looking for other projects to voluntarily edit and research.

What's in a Name?

Choosing a User name was fairly frustrating at first. Permalearning wanted to choose a name that showed at least some intelligence while still saying, "Hey, I'm not a know it all, or an egomaniac that acts like they do, but I'm still someone who loves to learn!" Permalearning's User name thus basically breaks down into two parts: Perma (suggesting permanently) and Learning.

Here is a list of Permalearning's other favorite "Perma" words:

  • Permatemp: An employee whose status lies somewhere between permanent employee and temporary employee. This status comes with a typical lack of benefits and job security.
  • Permaculture: A system of agriculture that emphasizes the use of renewable natural resources and the enrichment of the local ecosystem.
  • Permafrost: Permanently frozen subsoil. This occurs throughout the Polar Regions and in perennial frigid areas.
  • Permalink: A URL assigned permanently to an article, news clip, or blog by syndication software.
  • Permalloy: A trademark used for any of several alloys of nickel and iron having high magnetic permeability.
  • Permanable: Permanent or durable.
  • Permanent: Lasting and remaining without change to essential being or composition.
  • Permanganate: Any of the salts of permanaganic acid which have strong oxidizing agents.
  • Permansion: Continuance

Thanks

I appreciate it when other editors touch up my work. I certainly need the help at times. Specially with my spelling. The saying goes, "two heads are better than one," but with the help of Wikipedia our projects can benefit from a whole world wide community consciousness. Thanks again everyone, and happy truth hunting. Permalearning 20:57, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
