I had just finished reading every article possible regarding the Douglas High School shooting, and I cannot begin to comprehend why we (as humankind) continue to turn against one another in spite, anger, brutality and animosity. There's absolutely no reason to commit mass genocide of your fellow peers, no matter what the circumstances may be. "Prayers and condolences" don't work, real action needs to be taken in this situation. This was the 29th mass shooting in the United States since 1 January. Twenty-nine times, we've had to witness the absolute worst that humankind has had to bestow. It has to end NOW.

Things have been a whirlwind for the last year. I moved to Washington State in 2020 during the sequences of the 2020 Oregon wildfires, in which the Holiday Farm Fire was threatening Eugene and Springfield. It's been good thus far, however. I have a decent job, a well-maintained car, and the town I moved to is really quiet. I have plans to surprise my girlfriend later this spring, when I travel to West Virginia. I will be sure to take plenty of photos.

I've been keeping busy with learning about the "quirks and features" (borrowing a page from Doug DeMuro) of my 2015 Hyundai Accent sedan, and I'm honestly surprised at how dependable that little workhorse has been. I bought it in summer 2020 from a dealership in Springfield, Oregon, and at the time it had 74,166 miles on it. 19 months later, I've put almost 25,000 miles on it. I've taken it all over the West Coast, I've been essentially all over Oregon in it, been to North California and most of Western Washington (state). I'm currently in the search for something bigger, but I need to get my credit fixed first.

Well, I finally got that bigger vehicle in May. It's a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe with the 5.3 liter V8 engine. I thought I was honestly making a mistake buying a V8 with gas at the time being over $5 a gallon, but it's since come back down a considerable amount. Where $120 used to fill it now takes $80. I love it so far.
