Seeking proximity to whichever party was in power, Vedanta had become a public backer of the BJP’s political agenda (The Wire 2018). In the Pseudoscience section, the mentioned claim, “He has also repeatedly stated he can solidify mercury at room temperature,” was refuted by Australian scientist Sumaiya Shaikh. However, this refutation is based solely on a line in a news article written by Sumaiya, who is a neuroscientist. However, recent articles on nanoparticles suggest that it is possible to solidify mercury at room temperature. Also, there is a patent on solidifying elemental mercury with sulphide.
