The main point of the ecosystem is that the user invests in data, and purchases services and data in return. For example iCloud, App Store (iOS/iPadOS), iTunes, Apple TV+ to name but four. As technology evolves more services will come (thinking of healthcare, fitness, travel, banking etc.), tying users into the ecosystem more closely and making it harder (for the user who has so much invested) from switching.
