English: Front page of the September 4, 1840, edition of the Extra Globe, a newspaper in Washington, D.C., in the United States. Founded by supporters of President Andrew Jackson and the Democratic Party, it was edited by Jackson's nephew, Francis Preston Blair. Amos Kendall, former U.S. Postmaster General and the most important member of Jackson's "kitchen cabinet", frequently wrote for the newspaper after leaving office in May 1840 in order to boost President Martin Van Buren's chances for re-election.
