Notes
  • Significance: A small, picturesque building with a deep-set balcony and decorative timber and brick work, the Linden Gate Porter's Lodge was part of the Henry G. Marquand estate called Linden Place. The main house was designed by Richard Morris Hunt in 1872 and is no longer extant. (For more information, see Buildings of Rhode Island, pp. 551-52)

Before it burned (1973), the house exhibited an unusual combination of materials and textures, including brick, stone, and wood detailing.
