Therewere two brothers, John and Edward, sonsof Christopher, both of whom emigrated toMassachusetts, John in 1639 and Edward in1643. John was the first settler of Cambridgevillage, and both lived and died in what is nowknown as Newton, Massachusetts, this townhaving been set off from Cambridge. Theyand tlieir descendants are well described in apaper read by Air. John Noble, clerk of theSupreme Judicial Court of Boston before theColonial Society of Massachusetts, at a meet-ing held in 1903. Speaking of the will ofthe first Edward Jackson, the immigrant, hesays: Various considerations give it an interest; thedocument taken by itself; the character of_ theman who wrote it, and his standing and position,in his own town, and in the Colony; his connectionwith the whole subsequent life and history of Mas-sachusetts and of Boston,
