    Hillary Clinton Navboxes

I am having problems viewing {{Time 100s 2000s}} that I just added to Hillary Rodham Clinton. Is it appearing correctly for others?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:02, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, it fails. Adding the template exceeded a limit on the article and added the article to the hidden category Category:Pages where template include size is exceeded instead of transcluding all the templates at the bottom. I have reverted. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:21, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Is that what is going on with Tiger Woods too?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 01:26, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. If you enable "Show hidden categories" at Special:Preferences#preftab-1 then you can see the category. The problem causes transclusions to stop when the limit is reached. In Clinton's case, all the navigation boxes were inside one huge template and caused that template to fail. PrimeHunter (talk) 01:29, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    sorting of US state

In the table in the US State article, the states aren't sorted correctly by area. The funny thing is that if I go back to the history of that article, I only get incorrectly sorted tables, even if I go back months, while I do remember accessing that article recently and it had a correct sort then, so apparently something has changed in how sorting works at Wikipedia rather the article itself. --Merijn2 (talk) 00:17, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hm. Sorting is done alphabetically if there are any letters in the field at all. I believe that it will only sort numbers correctly if the field is purely numeric. The unit labels in the spaces screw up the sorting algorithm, and make it think that it is an alphabet sorting problem, so it basically sorts by the first digit. I think in order to fix this you would need to rewrite the table so it only had numbers in that column. --Jayron32 00:25, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The area fields call {{convert}} with the parameter sortable=on, for example {{convert|135,765|km2|abbr=on|sortable=on|disp=flip}}, so the problem is apparently in {{convert}}. The html of the rendered page contains the code <span style="display:none">&<strong class="error">Expression error: Unrecognised punctuation character ","</strong></span> in front of the displayed area where the hidden sort key should have been. If I preview with the commas removed from all the areas then the sorting is correct so it appears {{convert}} cannot generate sortable numbers when the input has commas. The output has commas even if the input doesn't, so I think the solution is simply to remove the commas. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:42, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    I have posted to Template talk:Convert#Trouble with .7Csortable=on. PrimeHunter (talk) 01:00, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
{{convert}} has now been edited so the sorting works. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:12, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    insurance

I would like to create a disambiguation page for “Insurance”. It seems like there are quite a lot of definition articles with the word or term “insurance”. Where can I request that? An editor since 10.28.2010. 02:18, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation pages are created and edited just like all other pages. Insurance seems like the primary topic so a disambiguation page could be created at Insurance (disambiguation). Note however that Wikipedia is not a dictionary. There is wiktionary:insurance for that. A disambiguation page should contain links to articles users may be looking for when they enter "Insurance" in the search field. I'm not sure there is basis for a disambiguation page. PrimeHunter (talk) 02:32, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template interwiki links appearing in portals

I notice that in Portal:Metro Detroit the template interwiki links are appearing, when they should not.

I tried editing Template:Box portal skeleton/doc and I haven't found the way to get them to stop appearing in portals WhisperToMe (talk) 02:55, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

When a portal is created by subst-ing this template, the contents of the template are copied into the page at that point, and any future changes to the template have no effect. In this case the portal was created on 10 Feb 2010, before the template was edited to solve this problem. The fix, which I have just done, is to edit the portal page itself. I'll have a look for other portals with the same problem. -- John of Reading (talk) 07:52, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    block

Can an admin block themselves? If so, what will it be listed as? “USER blocked USER: REASON”? “Self-block: REASON”? Also, can they unblock themselves? (Duh, of course they can't.) An editor since 10.28.2010. 04:24, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Admins can block themselves. It would appear as all other blocks do. Admins can not unblock themselves at this time, I believe, although they have been able to in the past. —GFOLEY FOUR!— 04:37, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Admins can block themselves. They also have the technical ability to unblock themselves, but it is against the rules, its one of the few things an administrator can do that usually leads to an nearly instant removal of administrator privileges. --Jayron32 04:39, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    Sharing

    Hi,

How do i share a certain Article... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amjad Khan Awan (talk • contribs) 09:04, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Everyone on Wikipedia can see every page. There's no setting for sharing.
For example, the only page you've made is User:Amjad_Khan_Awan - we can all see, and edit it. I just edited it, and linked 'Dubai' to our article on the topic (with this edit).
If you want to make a 'live' (mainspace) article, that can be found on Google, see WP:FIRST and use WP:WIZARD. Best,  Chzz  ►  09:08, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You must determine the proper license of the image (or whether it is in the public domain). If you know the image is public domain or copyrighted but under a suitable free-license, upload it to the Wikimedia Commons instead of here, so that all projects have access to the image (sign up). If you are unsure of the licensing status, see the file upload wizard for more information. Please also read Wikipedia's image use policy.
Once the image is uploaded, the edit you have made will be correct: find "image = something" within the infobox and change it to "image = something else". -- John of Reading (talk) 10:11, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If the image you want to replace is the infobox logo, it is easier: Tag it with {{non-free logo}} and use {{logo fur}} to provide a non-free use rationale. —teb728 t c 11:25, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I reverted your change to the article for now, as the filename you added does not exist and it caused a redlink. The simplest way is to upload it as a new version over the current logo. This image seems to be what you want, but the tagline needs to be removed. I will take care of it later today. You can always ask this on the article talk page or at WT:SCOUT. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) talk 12:45, 28 July 2011 (UTC) WikiProject Scouting[reply]

    Editing sockpuppet archive

How would I go about adding confirmed sockpuppets to a user's SPI archive, so as to include ref(s) to the original investigation(s)? The entries on the SPI archive page do not have refs to the original investigations, and I am leery as an IP of copying other users' comments wholesale. 71.234.215.133 (talk) 13:21, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

An archive is just that: an archive. It is not supposed to be added to or tampered with. --Orange Mike | Talk 14:01, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
How do entries to a SPI archive get added then? 71.234.215.133 (talk) 14:08, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Surely they get added when an investigation is completed? I was confused by your original question; where did you see the sockpuppet confirmation if it isn't in the SPI archive? - David Biddulph (talk) 14:16, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I searched the indef-banned user's name as linked to other pages. I found an AN/I notice with Checkuser of both an account sock and an IP sock dated a day after the ban. Neither the account nor the IP have been added to the user's SPI archive. 71.234.215.133 (talk) 14:20, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    Front Cover of Vintage Book

I have a photo of the front cover of a soft cover children's book from the 1960's, that is no longer in print, that I would like to ad to a Wikipedia page describing the entire series of books published at that time. The existing Wikipedia page displays a listing of the titles of the various books in the series, but does not depict an example of any of the books. In 1977, the publishing company shut down and its assets were sold (to Kent State University) which would likely have included any copyrights. Can I upload a photo of this book's cover since the article pertains to this defunct series that is no longer available other than from used book dealers? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Winnipegflatlander (talk • contribs) 18:23, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You will have to upload it under the non-free use criteria. So it will need a non-free use rationale using the {{Non-free use rationale}} template, and the {{Non-free book cover}} template on the image information page. – ukexpat (talk) 19:34, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, it's unlikely to be acceptable use. Non-free images of book covers cannot be used in a plain list article, because the content of the article does not describe the specific book. I'm guessing from your edits you mean How and Why Wonder Books - which is just such a list, without details. As the NFC policy says, we can only use Cover art from various items, for identification only in the context of critical commentary of that item (not for identification without critical commentary). IF the specific book met the notability guidelines (which means, if there were several appropriate references), then we could have an article about that specific book, and the cover image could be used there. Alternatively, it might be possible to add details about the book to the list article, and thus have a claim to fair use of the non-free image.
For example, List of works of William Gibson does not have any cover images, because it does not have details about the specific books; whereas e.g. "Burning Chrome" does have a cover image under a non-free licence, File:Burning chrome.JPG.  Chzz  ►  01:00, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    Suppressing t:respell

I wondered if it is possible, perhaps by some short lines in my /monobook.css or .js, to suppress the template {{respell}}. Although I recognise that it may be helpful to non-IPA readers, I don't want to see it as I do read IPA and would prefer to see only that.

    Thanks, Quīsquīlliān (talk) 22:10, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
At this point you would need to loop through every span on every article and look at the title attribute for "English pronunciation respelling" with JavaScript. I would suggest opening an edit request at the template talk page for the addition of an id attribute or an additional class so you can suppress it directly from your CSS. — Bility (talk) 00:20, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
On second thought I think you can get elements by class name, so it wouldn't be as taxing to just get the IPA spans and check those. CSS would be easier, however. — Bility (talk) 05:47, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Information Needed on How My Corrections Have Been Deleted

I just tried, for the first time, to do a major edit on an article, titled "John C. Cremony." I had just finished his "Life Among the Apaches* and wanted more information on the author. I found a very misleading article, and corrected it, quoting from the "Life" to prove my point. Much to my surprise, my correction was deleted, and the original article reinserted, within seconds of my post. Thinking that perhaps I had not correctly posted my revisions, I rewrote them and posted them a second time, only to again have the original article substituted for mine almost immediately. Although my contribution, from LosAngeles08, is listed in the "discussion" section, I could not access it.

Could somebody tell me what is going on? Can the author of an article somehow automatically delete any corrections or additions as soon as they are posted? Is my version accessible? How do I write an account of my experience that will inform readers who consult the article, but cannot be immediately deleted? In other words, can I write something for the "discussion" section that is not a [censored] correction of the article itself? I'm clueless as to what is going on, and disillusioned. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LosAngeles08 (talk • contribs) 00:23, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You can see the article history here, which shows other users' reasons for reverting your changes. The other editors believed that your additions were dubious, original research ("OR"), and not supported by the sources cited. I'd recommend starting a discussion at Talk:John C. Cremony about the changes that you would like to make. Calliopejen1 (talk) 00:37, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) The other editors' undoing of your edits have comments such as "not in the source, OR" and "Reverted addition of dubious unsourced content". I don't know anything about the topic or the sources, but sounds like either various editors disagree on the meaning of sources, or at least different editors using different sources are finding different information. It happens a lot in my experience, since not everyone has access to the same sources and definitely don't all have the experience to understand them all. Perfect example of the sort of dispute that can be hashed out on the article's talk-page. Things like "the article says X but source A says B instead; what is the basis for saying X?" would be a good starting-point there. Then others can explain why X is viable as-is, or help adjust the writing to agree with all sources ("A says B whereas C says X"), or maybe find more sources to break the tie or help re-interpret A itself. DMacks (talk) 00:43, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, the tone of your writing was not appropriately encyclopaedic; it offered an opinion, and thus did not conform to a neutral point-of-view. You are offering an interpretation of the book, based on your own ideas, which is not permissible on Wikipedia. Instead, we need verifiable facts that have been published in reliable sources - such as, newspaper articles or other books about the person / his work.  Chzz  ►  00:48, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm confused...that talk-page comment does not look like a legal threat. Or are you threatening legal action if it's not removed? It's rare that we would remove partial comments except under extreme circumstances, and it's generally sufficient to remove the whole message (but again, I don't yet understand the severity of the situation you are seeing). I'll ping oversighters, but might be a job for wplegal (it's technically impossible to make the edits completely invisible to everyone). DMacks (talk) 01:18, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see what DMacks is seeing (and in 2010, no less) at Miley Fan or any threat at all being made against Alxxthegeek. What am I missing that would interest oversighters? Bielle (talk) 01:27, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As I understand it, the user the quoted comment was directed at is threatening Alxxthegeek with legal action because of the accusation of [details removed]. Presumably the threat is made off wiki in Australia. Alxxthegeek has given info about work which could be used to track somebody down. I find it hard to believe anybody would use resourses on actually taking legal action over the quote. It sounds more like bullying. Here is a checkuser statement that the accused user has indeed [details removed] : [2]. PrimeHunter (talk) 01:42, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The name mentioned in the comment in question matches a name involved in the SPI as part of a series of abusive edits by that sockfarm on the same topic as the comment in question. Other parts of that SPI make the connection to Australia, the source of the legal threat Alxxthegeek noted. DMacks (talk) 01:47, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've been told all I can post about the legal threat is:
At this stage, it's better to advise Wikipedia that "At this stage the matter is confidential. Please take the steps you think appropriate to responde to my request to redact my statement". Alxxthegeek (talk) 01:44, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So ID092833535 gets blocked (again?)? I am feeling really stupid, so forgive me but what could a (known?) sockpuppet possibly find sufficiently disturbing in the text cited to cause a legal threat, especially if he/she should be still blocked as a sockpuppet? Bielle (talk) 01:56, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • If I understand correctly, I think PrimeHunter has it right, and this is a sockpuppet bullying Alxxthegeek with obnoxious legal threats. The comments were already blanked a year ago, so that can't be what they're asking. While I can't imagine the threat having any basis, I think it would ease Alxx's mind if we revdel'd or oversighted them, and I'd be inclined to do so (doesn't really fit any of the revdel criteria, but nobody's going to mind, right?). Alxx, would it be enough to wp:revdel them, so the general public can't see the text? If so, I'll do that for you. If you need it hidden from admins as well, you'll need to contact oversight; you can email them at Special:Emailuser/Oversight. --Floquenbeam (talk) 02:07, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just in case, I have edited the above posts to replace all copies of the original comment with "details removed". If this is a matter for revdel/oversight then about 20 revisions of the Help desk will have to be hidden as well. -- John of Reading (talk) 08:19, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

tool to analyse breakdown of edits, etc

Just wondering if there's a tool available that will list by percentage (for example) of how many edits that I have made have been to a certain page, or how many times in total I've edited there, that sort of thing. I'm far more active on certain pages than I am on others, and was just wondering how much of my time they actually take up, compared to many single instance edits - to remove vandalism, etc. a_man_alone (talk) 08:26, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

One tool is "X!'s Edit Counter" - to get details, you'd have to create the page User:A man alone/EditCounterOptIn.js to 'opt in' - it doesn't matter what you put on the page, it just has to exist. And then, the tool will show your "Top edited pages", which will probably cover what you want, here.
There's also a website (unaffiliated with Wikipedia), http://en.wikichecker.com/ - that shows "Frequently edited pages" if you click the thingy to expand it, but it defaults to just the most recent 500 edits. If you do "Analyze all edits of this user", it'll show all of them - here.
Yet another is http://wikidashboard.appspot.com/ - if you go to a user page, it lists the top-5 edited articles, and you can choose 10,20,50.

    Parent company

    Hi there,

I was trying to create a page for our company called Boston's the Gourmet Pizza. Our parent company, Boston Pizza, is in Canada. When they expanded the business to the states, the name was changed to Boston's the Gourmet Pizza. I created a page for us yesterday, linking the Canadian page (which mentions us and uses our logo) to our page. This morning I went to check back and make some changes on our page and saw that my creation had been removed and dubbed "Copyright infringement." I'm trying to figure out why I can't create our separate company a separate page. This has happened twice now and its frustrating as we are our own company, with our own identity, our own history and our own future. Please help as we are trying to expand our brand online and would love to include a Wikipedia page in that particular portfolio.

    Vauxhall Page

My edit to add Lord Voldemort to the list of Noteable people for the Vauxhall page was denied because he "is not a real person". He may not technically be a living person, but he is known around the world as the darkest Wizard of all time. If he is not a real person then why does he have his own Wikipedia page? I added a reference (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, page 232) which outlines that Tom Riddle (Voldemort's given name) is from that area of London. Please reconsider this. It is obviously a link to his Wikipedia page where people can learn that he is a character in Rowling's book if they choose to do so. Please reconsider adding Lord Voldemort to the list of Noteable people section of the Vauxhall Wikipedia page.

    Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karissa89 (talk • contribs) 19:59, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

An article on a real place should only list real people, the reasons for this should be so obvious I cannot begin to explain them. Яehevkor 20:13, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is obviously a reference to a fiction book but we could put Lord Voldemort (fictional character). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karissa89 (talk • contribs) 20:25, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For the record, the diary is from Vauxhall Road, London(Just dug it out to check), not specifically Vauxhall itself, and there doesn't appear to be a Vauxhall road in Vauxhall. Also just because the diary is from there doesn't mean he is--Jac16888 Talk 20:33, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There are plenty of precedents for including notable fictional characters on lists like this, if the assertion is properly sourced. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:39, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose there are now I look. But there would need to be sources other than the book, indeportant souces establishing the connection and it's significance; random example. Яehevkor 20:46, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If the original work is clear about it (and I agree with Jac that this is not a good example), I see no reason why the work itself would not suffice. Victor Frankenstein begins the book with "I am by birth a Genevese; and my family is one of the most distinguished of that republic"; that's good enough for me, unless you're going to argue he's an unreliable narrator. --Orange Mike | Talk 21:00, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
A decent example of where a fictional reference is appropriate in a real-world article might be re. Platform 9¾ at King's Cross. But that is sufficiently documented; has enough references to mean inclusion is appropriate.
For "Vauxhall Road", a) there is not such coverage, b) "Vauxhall Road" is not Vauxhall. So to me, it is obvious in this case that it doesn't belong.
In the book/film, there's a shop called "Winstanley's Bookstore & Stationers" at 422 Vauxhall Road, where Tom Riddle bought a diary. But to cover that minor detail in an unrelated article would be excessive. Consider just how many fictional books mention places in London? If we added them all (to the location articles), they'd overwhelm them. So unless the coverage is much more significant (e.g. 221B Baker Street), it shouldn't be included.  Chzz  ►  23:14, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You can see the original at Commons:File:PD-icon.svg.
That seems to have come from File:PD-icon.png, which was created in 2005 by Duesentrieb (talk · contribs) (as you can see, on the file page). You can probably contact that person on Commons:User talk:Duesentrieb.
It was created by a Wikipedia editor; it is just an icon; whether the slash is \ or / is a matter of personal preference, I think, and I don't see a compelling reason to change it; plus, lots of images copy the same style. Maybe it comes from the idea of Derestriction signs.
If you did wish to discuss the format of icons used on image / templates though, it'd probably be best to do that on Commons:Village pump (because "Commons" stores all the images used on all Sister wikis), or our own Wikipedia:Village pump (idea lab).  Chzz  ►  01:25, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How do I edit a page when there is no edit tab?

On the anniversary page for July 30, I want to enter 2011 Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall wed (Events) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.164.231.182 (talk) 01:50, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    Do you mean the page July 30? If so, then the following will explain. If you meant a different article, I'm sorry I misunderstood. So;
A wedding anniversary is not normally considered notable enough for inclusion on day-pages; see Wikipedia:Days of the year. So, it probably can't be included; sorry.
To explain why 'edit' is missing though; the page July 30 has, unfortunately, had to be semi-protected so that only registered users can edit it. If you click 'View Source' (which replaces 'edit'), you can see info on "Why is the page protected?" and "What can I do?"
You could register then wait until you had been around for a short time (4 days/10 edits), but quicker is to place a {{editsemiprotected}} request in a new section on the article discussion page - Talk:July 30 - you'll see some previous requests there.
But, re. that specific anniversary, I don't think there would be agreement to add it; sorry. Chzz  ►  02:15, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Plus, I see now, that the wedding has not yet happened - and so, it wouldn't be appropriate, because we do not predict events before they happen.
The best approach would probably be - when it's happened and there is coverage - to add to Zara Phillips, and/or Mike Tindall. If there was enough coverage in reliable sources, it could feature in the news. But, we can't cover it until there is coverage in newspapers and suchlike.  Chzz  ►  02:26, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That would be the place to request protection, but Wikipedia prides itself on being an encyclopedia which anyone can edit; so the people at Requests for page protection would not protect a page with such a low rate of vandalism. Particularly on request of the husband of the subject—it would give the impression that you were trying to enforce an approved version. —teb728 t c 05:54, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's very hard for us to maintain an unreferenced article; we cannot tell which facts are correct, and which or not. That's why we insist on references - see WP:V and WP:REFB.  Chzz  ►  05:26, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I have now added references to most of it, and done work on the formatting, etc. - see the page history.
That should help considerably in trying to maintain it.
There's still some things needing improvement - but, Shumeyko, please be careful about the conflict of interest; it's fine to remove any junk, but for other things please suggest the changes on the discussion page - Talk:Behnaz Sarafpour, and if you add {{Request edit}} it should get attention; please see WP:BESTCOI. Also worth reading WP:BLP.
It is unlikely that the article would be protected at this time, because there isn't enough evidence of persistent/ongoing vandalism to warrant that - and this is supposed to be "The Encyclopaedia that anyone can edit", so protection is a last-ditch effort (and, normally, short-term).
If you do have further concerns, see Wikipedia:Contact us/Article problem/Factual error (from subject).

I suspect, based on your question, that you found one of our over 6.8 million articles and thought we were affiliated in some way with that subject. Please note that you are at Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and this page is for asking questions related to using or contributing to Wikipedia itself. Thus, we have no special knowledge about the subject of your question. You can, however, search our vast catalogue of articles by typing a subject into the search field on the upper right side of your screen. If you cannot find what you are looking for, we have a reference desk, divided into various subject areas, where asking knowledge questions is welcome. Best of luck.  Chzz  ►  06:18, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    IP account blocked

    Resolved

My IP adress account was blocked recently by User:Brandon. The reason for the block was listed as Opera mini proxy. I was using my Opera mini on my phone when the block took place. What exactly is the meaning of proxy? And is there any possibility that my IP adress account be restored? Miguel AG (talk) 09:43, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oops! I just found out that it was not my IP Adress that was blocked, it was the browser's server (I think), The blocked IP Adress was way different from mine. Sorry! Miguel AG (talk) 12:37, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

HI, i am coley mccabe. you have created a page for me (thank you) but there is no photo. may i send you one? Coleymccabe (talk) 13:57, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you have an image that you own the copyright to and you are willing to allow anyone to use it you can upload it to the Commons. Then it can be used in the article. GB fan please review my editing 14:04, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That would be very welcome. Please see WP:IOWN for how to donate copyright materials. --ColinFine (talk) 14:19, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you are an auto-confirmed user (at least 10 edits/4 days), you can straight away upload your file onto the Commons under a free license. If you are not an auto-confirmed user, you can request your photo to be uploaded into the Commons as said above. Either way, if your file is already on Commons, place the photo on the page you want it on by typing [[File:File name.extension|size]] on it. Miguel AG (talk) 17:00, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with the article feedback tool

On the article Remember December, I removed my ratings since I didn't really want to rate a page I personally improved. But then, all the ratings turned to 1 and even if I rate it with 5, the "average" i still 1, and there's only 5 ratings. Prior to removing my ratings, it had around 4. I have removed my ratings on other pages, but this only happened here. Is there a bug or something? Pancake (talk) 16:47, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know. According to this page, you could try posting at mw:Talk:Article feedback (preferred) or at Wikipedia talk:Article Feedback Tool. -- John of Reading (talk) 19:40, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    Thanks. I asked at MediaWiki. Pancake (talk) 20:59, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Table messes up all sections below it

In the Ben Gurion International Airport article there is a table in the traffic volume section which floats into the next level 2 section (access). The way the table flows, it totally messes up all the level 2 sections below it? Is there any way to fix this? For example, some way of maybe causing there to be a hard break just before the Access section? Help! Wikiliki (talk) 16:56, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed - there was an extra "start of table" marker. -- John of Reading (talk) 19:19, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    Deletion of Son of Scarface

here is the link to the article.

I would kindly appreciate it, it is defamatory and it is incorrect.

My name is Chris W Knight and I am asking you to please delete this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.102.183.9 (talk) 18:20, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It is unlikely the article will be deleted as the topic is notable. Which content specifically is incorrect? It appears to be a fairly reasonable synopsis of a book. --Daniel 18:32, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Please read our policy on biography of living people: if there is material about you in the article which is not referenced to a reliable source, it should be removed. But material which is referenced to a reliable source should not be removed. If it is the consensus among interested editors that the subject is notable, then the article will not be deleted. If there is specific material in the article which you contest, I strongly urge you to post at Talk:Son of Scarface, explaining what you want changed, so that interested editors can discuss it with you. --ColinFine (talk) 20:01, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
We will take your request very seriously, but I am sure you can understand that we do not delete articles simply on the request of an anonymous request. (You may very well be Chris W Knight, and there are ways to for you to verify your identify to Wikipedia, should the need arise, but most of us helping out at the help desk have no way of confirming your identity.) I see that there are some interesting claims in that article. Unfortunately, while sourced, two of the important sources are behind a paywall. Tat is not disallowed, but it does mean I cannot simply look at them to see if some editor added a source but was not careful in wording the text. Is it your contention that the Sun Times articles do not support the text in the article? If so, the next step is to post that at the Talk page, so an investigation can be undertaken.--SPhilbrickT 21:03, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    Small font is unreadable

Hello, It seems that suddenly the default font for articles in Wikipedia has changed from a perfectly readable one, to a bold but very SMALL one. Please be aware that for many readers this is not good, as many of us have trouble reading small fonts. I wish there was a way to change it back to the previous style, which was much more readable. 67.252.20.111 (talk) 20:56, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Does not seem to be happening to me. Try using a different browser. — Waterfox ~talk~ 21:05, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You may have accidentally changed the font size in your browser settings. For example, in Firefox Ctrl-+ and Ctrl-- change the font size, and Ctrl-zero restores the default. If you post your browser name here, someone will be able to give you specific advice. -- John of Reading (talk) 21:09, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Try changing the font in your browser. I hate the standard wiki font, so small. I use Candara (occasionally Georgia) font size 17 on FIrefox. Much more stylish, try it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:14, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
