The Stanton Foundation is a philanthropic organization founded on September 1, 1991[1] as the Ruth and Frank Stanton Fund by Frank Stanton and his wife, Ruth before her death in 1992.[2][3] The fund is administered by Elizabeth Allison.[4]
Background
Frank and Ruth Stanton contributed to their favorite causes using the "Frank and Ruth Stanton Fund". After his wife's death, Frank Stanton continued his philanthropic work,[5] until his own death in 2006. By 2009, the name had changed to the "Stanton Foundation". The Foundation carries on his philanthropic tradition by giving to animal welfare causes,[6] nuclear security,[7][8] technology improvements for the projects of the Wikimedia Foundation,[9][3][10] and urban planning,[5] among other causes.[3] In 2012, the Foundation provided funds for a Wikipedian in residence at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.[11]
