=== Lawsuits ===
Dr. Mahtab has been the subject of numerous complaints and legal cases alleging negligence and mistreatment of patients. These allegations have raised concerns within the medical community and among patients regarding the quality of care provided by Dr. Mahtab. The controversies surrounding Dr. Mahtab's practices have garnered significant attention and scrutiny, prompting discussions about medical ethics, patient safety, and regulatory oversight in healthcare. In May 2021, a Dhaka court ordered an investigation into allegations of negligence against three doctors, including Dr. Mamun Al Mahtab, leading to the death of another physician, Dr. Toufiq Enam. Physiotherapist Aktaruzzaman Mia filed a case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court regarding the death of his son, Dr. Enam, on May 30 while undergoing treatment at BRB Hospital. Dr. Mahtab, a gastroenterologist at Labaid Hospital, was one of the three accused doctors. According to the allegations, Dr. Mahtab conducted an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedure on Dr. Enam after he developed complications following a surgery at Islami Bank Hospital. Dr. Mahtab admitted to treating Dr. Enam for hepatitis B and performing the ERCP with the patient's consent to avoid further surgery's high costs and risks. However, Dr. Enam's condition deteriorated, and he was transferred to BRB Hospital, where he passed away during an operation. Dr. Mahtab denied any negligence, claiming he was unaware of Dr. Enam's pre-existing conditions.<ref>{{Cite web |last=Correspondent |first=Court |title=Three doctors charged with negligence in the death of another physician |url=https://bdnews24.com/bangladesh/three-doctors-charged-with-negligence-in-the-death-of-another-physician |access-date=2024-02-22 |website=bdnews24.com |language=en}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |title=Case filed against three doctors over physician’s death |url=https://www.newagebd.net/article/141349/case-filed-against-three-doctors-over-physicians-death |access-date=2024-02-22 |website=New Age {{!}} The Most Popular Outspoken English Daily in Bangladesh |language=en}}</ref>

In March 2024, Khairul Bashar filed a formal complaint with the Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Samanta Lal Sen, urging an investigation into Mahtab and Labaid concerning the death of his brother in November 2023. According to the complaint, the patient Afsar Ahmed underwent an endoscopy procedure<ref>https://www.rtvonline.com/capital/266552</ref> conducted by Mahtab at Labaid and passed away on the same day due to alleged medical mismanagement, inefficiency, negligence, and carelessness.<ref>https://bangla.bdnews24.com/health/sydqmlxkv1</ref><ref>https://bangladeshmoments.com/health/123426/%E0%A6%AB%E0%A7%87%E0%A6%B0-%E0%A6%8F%E0%A6%A8%E0%A7%8D%E0%A6%A1%E0%A7%8B%E0%A6%B8%E0%A7%8D%E0%A6%95%E0%A6%AA%E0%A6%BF-%E0%A6%95%E0%A6%B0%E0%A6%BE%E0%A6%A4%E0%A7%87-%E0%A6%97%E0%A6%BF%E0%A7%9F%E0%A7%87-%E0%A6%AE%E0%A7%83%E0%A6%A4%E0%A7%8D%E0%A6%AF%E0%A7%81%E0%A6%B0-%E0%A6%85%E0%A6%AD%E0%A6%BF%E0%A6%AF%E0%A7%8B%E0%A6%97-%E0%A6%B2%E0%A7%8D%E0%A6%AF%E0%A6%BE%E0%A6%AC%E0%A6%8F%E0%A6%87%E0%A6%A1%E0%A7%87%E0%A6%B0-%</ref>

In February 2024, Raahib Reza, a 31-year-old patient, passed away at Labaid Dhanmondi Hospital ICU, after undergoing a routine endoscopy procedure performed by Mahtab. Allegations surfaced from the patient's family, asserting that his medical history and pre-assessment tests were not duly reviewed <ref>https://www.newagebd.net/article/225950/patient-dies-at-labaid-for-alleged-maltreatment</ref> before sedation was administered which was clearly mentioned as not advisable in hos pre-operative test reports.<ref>https://www.thereport.live/legal/it-professional-dies-after-endoscopy-at-labaid-hospital/28419</ref> which ultimately caused his demise.<ref>https://www.tbsnews.net/bangladesh/family-seek-justice-patients-death-labaid-hospital-800002</ref> Moreover, the family accused Mahtab and Labaid of lacking transparency regarding the certified healthcare professional responsible for administering the sedative. Subsequently, the patient's family took legal action by filing a writ petition with the High Court, seeking the revocation of Mahtab and Labaid's licenses and compensation for what they deemed gross medical negligence.<ref>https://www.dhakatribune.com/bangladesh/court/341520/writ-seeks-cancellation-of-dhanmondi-labaid%E2%80%99s</ref><ref>https://www.dhakatribune.com/bangladesh/339939/death-after-endoscopy-family-alleges-negligence</ref> Responding to the petition, the High Court directed the government to establish an independent committee to investigate the allegations of gross medical negligence.<ref>https://www.daily-sun.com/post/738771</ref><ref>
